Went out to the storage lot today to start prepping the coach for it's move to the pad next to the garage, and this is what I found (click on the image for a better view):
RJ...What I say will not be popular! I have said for a long time that the punks that do this crap should be put away...forever...not in jail...in a grave!
In Greensboro, NC the police have a cop that studies this and can figure out who did it. You may want to see if your police department has such a man.
I am soory for your lost here.
Jack
While I think the death penalty might be a little harsh for this crime, I can relate to the sentiment:
My first 4106:
Just know that you're not alone in your misery
When I was driving cross country, I carried lacquer thinner with me to take of graffiti. I was home one time and checked on my truck Saturday night, Sunday drove by and it had 13 graffiti markings on it. Stopped and took close to 3 hours to get them off, but did it. If you get the paint before it has hardened, lacquer thinner works well and won't ruin the paint, most of the time.
By the way-if you have Imron type polyurethane paint, DuPont recommends cleaning the paint with lacquer thinner. Good Luck, TomC
That is so sad and so wrong!
When I lived in SoCal I saw the markings on everything. The box stores have the spray paint under lock and key, sure hasn't stopped them from acquiring it though.
I feel for you and hope you can get it removed without any damage.

Last year, a friend was driving his "just painted" pickup through a parking lot, and drove over a can of spray paint. It burst and put a big sun burst of orange paint on the side of his new white paint job. He had only had the pickup back from the body shop for 3 days! When he brought it back to the shop, they told him that spray cans do not have hardner in them, and that it can easily be removed. I am not sure if it was a thinner or what the solvent to use was, but i seem to remember it being a Dupont product that had 3 numbers for its name. Ask at a body shop, or store that sells auto paint, and maybe they can help you out. Good luck with it.
I agree with Jack. Put em down it it wont happen again.
I agree with Jack also. I am tired of punks getting away with this stuff. Get rid of them & probably save someones life later on.
TOM
That is ROUGH!!! Those punks, if caught, will just get a a little fine, or something. Not what it should be >:( >:( >:(.
Hope you get it cleaned up.
God bless,
John
I saw downtown Juneau go from a quaint 20s type downtown to a disfigured disgusting 'tagged' eyesore. I don't think they should be killed, however a baseball bat taken to the forearm and hand of the offending arseholes would help deter them.
However, I'd bet public Caning would go a LONG way to deterring the little fatherless curs.
Or worse, hire them and make them go to work doing graphics.
1000 hours community service work cleaning graffiti off of things might get it through their heads why nobody else thinks it is so great. Then follow it up with a required enlistment in the military with a double dose of boot camp under the toughest DI's. When/if they made it through the course, they just might come out with a different view on things.
Years ago, a judge had the option of sentencing a person to jail or sending them off to the military, it sure straightened a lot of kids out, too bad they can't do that anymore.
Unfortunately, you have to catch them before you can do anything about it, not easy to do. Did they break the windows too? Hard to tell from the photo. I would be so angry, I would explode.
Hello all. They have "Anti-thieft" cars, Why not an "Anti-Graffiti" Bus? You could work with the local PD and set up a sting. Cameras on the bus should do the trick. Park it in a place known for the crime and watch the Bast**ds line up. We all have the freedom of Choice, I think Military or Jail. That would be 4 years one or the other! M&C ;D
RJ,
I am saddened by this highly disrespectful way of showing off their artistic talents!
But on the other hand I've seen others spend mega$ on paint jobs that don't look that good!
Maybe you could work something out with the punks who did this. Say maybe park another bus that is not such a classic there (like a smooth side MCI, Prevost, or Van Hool) there and let them do a "full wrap mural" on it and not charge them for the "free canvas space" in exchange that they leave your classic alone in the future! ;D
Just a thought! (oh yeah, then you could charge for the custom paint job on the smoothie! LOL!)
;D BK ;D

Not to make light of the disgraceful criminal act, nor agreeing with capitulating to criminals (catapulting them might be more fun), but simply an example of what BK is talking about, a double decker in London:

As my wife has said-it's too bad you can't electrify the exterior of the bus so that when the wet spray paint hits it, the person spraying the paint would get a healthy shock. Good Luck, TomC
I sure am sorry that happened to you. Our youth have gone off the deep end. I have a son in San Quintin that thought it would be a good idea to hook up with these homeys.
I think if they should round up the gangs, put them on a barge tow it 300 miles out to sea and scuttle it.
My neighbor parks his semi on the street between runs and has been hit twice.
Laquer thinner should remove it.
Hi RJ,
No worries.... Just put on a TYE DYE shirt, a Bandanna, and grow a scruffy beard and your good to go..... :o
No One will ever notice! ;D
No disrespect intended!
Nick-
My heart goes out to you RJ. If I was in the area I would come and help you clean it off.
A sting or capture of any kind is useless. They tell the judge they did it because they did not know any better, or they had a poor childhood. And of couse we as a compasionate society let them go.
JIm
Sorry to see the bus get painted like that. Like the other guys are saying even if you caught them red handed there isn't much the PD will do, hey have their hands full of plenty of other issues and graffiti is a trivial item to them - unless it happens to the PD building itself!
On another note - did you guys visit that painted bus site: http://www.boombus.co.uk (http://www.boombus.co.uk) that is quite an interesting idea those people are working on.

Hi Nick
You know when I was a boy growing up in the basements of Haight Ashbury experimenting in chemistry we were bottom end specimens of humanity but we never even considered hurting anybody and vandalism was not on our agenda either. I really don't know what happened but I think us bottom end specimens probably have to share some of the blame. Got to go I've got some tee shirts to rubber band. ;D ;D
I had a car get spray can painted and just used paint thinner or laquar thinner to remove it . it wiped rite off,
Before You try any of the solvents try wiping with plain old gasoline! A lot of the cheap spray cans will wipe right off with gas. If Your luck is like mine they stole the paint from a quality paint dealer LOL. Good luck with Your cleanup and repair. Regards, John
In San Diego the bridge pillars and freeway undersides were ALWAYS being tagged and the city had a full time crew painting over all that stuff. The city had a idea presented from the Mex community. They declared the side of the structures the property of the Mex community and asked that it be "painted" and maintained by the community. Those people spent a few weeks creating absolute art in scenes and portraits. Now that art style is not to my liking but it sure was beautiful to many. There was not a single "tag" on any of those walls for years. The community would track the scoundrels down, rip out their heart and crap in their chest cavity.....or worse. Those Mex took a lot of pride in their neighbor hood/barrio or whatever. Just another case of the leftist Kalifornicators trying to.........
I have serious issues with taggers myself. Seems nothing can be done. Most of the culprits are under 16 and those kind of crook just never comes into season regardless of your license.
Good luck to all with this issue.
John
