Would it be easier to replace a 8v92 in a MC-7 with a series 60 or a M-11?
Richard
Richard, a M/11 works best it is shorter and not as tall.
If you are having trouble with your 8v92 bring it to AZ this winter and I will help you build one with high torque and good fuel mileage with no leaks.
I don't think you will be happy with a M/11 I know I wouldn't give me a call my number is in the Eagles rooster
good luck
While the Series 60 is one of the best engines made (it will be discontinued in trucks and buses at the end of the year in favor of the DD15), its' height, length and weight make it a challenge to install in a bus. Usually you have to modify the floor over the engine to get it in.
The Cummins M11/ISM, on the other hand, weighs about the same as the 6V-92TA and is short enough that modifying the floor isn't needed. Being only a few inches longer then the 8V-92TA, it makes for a much easier conversion and the Cummins almost puts out the same power as the Series 60. The ISM is also being discontinued being replaced by the ISX 11.9 liter. The Cummins 15 liter ISX is also being discontinued as the dual overhead cam, mechanically operated electronic unit fuel injectors for the new Cummins 15 liter ISX that has just one camshaft and common rail fuel injection. Good Luck, TomC
Thanks Guys,
I plan on keeping my 92 but the price on the 60 seemed pretty reasonable. I was thinking of getting it for future use. Right now I need to get my turbo fixed. I was going to put the 8511 in place of the 8101 but the air housing was to big. I thought I might try putting the 01 housings on the 11. Would that work?
