I am looking for longer lug bolts for the front and tag axle for aluminum wheels. MCI wants $13/each. Does anyone know another source that may be cheaper? Any suggestions on steering box, MCI wants $1700 for rebuilt. Anyone have any other source? Also, our bus has a 4 speed manual and am considering replacing with an automatic drive transmission. It is an Allison transmission, though I'm not sure of model. Also, our windshield wipers are not working, anyone have suggestions on where to start troubleshoot to locate problem.
One other item...anyone aware of any rv salvage type business in Elkhart Indiana or between Indianapolis and Nashville TN? Names or phone numbers or websites would be great....
What brand is the best washer/dryer combos? Should we vent or non-vent?
berrybus, given your list I would contact Sam Caylor at Caylor Bus Parts in Kansas. I do not have his # handy but a quick google should get you the number. He is very easy to work with and as long as you are ready to purchase he ships the same or next day. I have been very happy purchasing parts for my 9. He told me once that he has about 60 MCI buses in his salvage yard.
Good luck!

great info, grant, i'm on it.
Berrybus,
For steering and other rebuilding needs check out The Rebuilding factory.

I haven't used them yet, but I have heard some good things about them.
A friend of mine got his Freightliner (1968) steering gear rebuilt for less than $500. He says it feels like a new truck again!

Better deals at Bontragers. Trina has gone almost 100% retail+. She was quoting 10% over retail to my dealer buddies...and she knows they are dealers. The problem is that will all these RV factories closing, there is not that much surplus anymore. Fewer parts means higher demand which means higher prices.
Berrybus, I got my studs and nuts from a local parts store. I think about 5.00 each but I have a 80 5c. I can get the part #s if you wish, but I changed to hub pilioted. Tom Y
Where is Bontragers, is it in Elkhart also?
Thanks
