Where is a good place to get an oil drain line for a DN50 on a Series 60? I assume this would the same for all Series 60 as they all seem to use the same engine mounting bracket.
My original line started leaking so I replaced it with a hydraulic hose, but the hydraulic hose leaks at the DN50 so I would like to go back to original.
My alternators on my Setra's w/60 series don't have oil return lines on them.
;D BK ;D
They probably don't have DN50s either. A lot of newer buses are going with dual alterators that are smaller.
Air cooled twins, and ducted to the outside in the case of the MCI J models, perhaps others.
Best idea I want to steal at that moment, ducting cool air to the air cooled alternator cooped up in the hot engine room.
happy coaching!

DN50 gear driven don't have a return line but the belt drive does maybe BK has the gear driven model good luck
I would just take what you have, for the length and end configuration, and go to a local hydraulic hose dealer (I tend to prefer an Aeroquip distributor) and have them make up a hose for you. Crimped on ends, hose specification to suit the application, it should be good for many years. What I use in my race cars for no pressure/low pressure hot oil applications is actually Aeroquips push on hose ends and the matching hose. No hose clamps, very decent multi-layer tough hose, high quality yet inexpensive hose end fittings, and I buy the hose in bulk so I can make up hoses as needed. I use it up to 100 psi, it's rated as a system to 300 psi, and my oil temps go up to 250 F normally.

Brian,
If you decide to the route the other Brian suggested there is a hydraulic hose shop right near you. It is on the east side of the 694-35E interchange about a mile or two from your house. Can't remember the name but you can't miss it.

I already had a new hydraulic hose made to replace the original line. It leaks at the fitting on the DN50. It has pretty much leaked since day one, but getting worse now. This is why I want to go back to original. I don't believe the hose itself has a hole.
C&J Bus Repair does have the line for $72 so that might be the best placea to get one.
Brian,
Thats gotta be cheaper than having one made... I think the place I went to would be over $100 for a foot and a half line.

You said the new hose has leaked at the alternator fitting since day 1. Are you sure the fitting in the alternator is not the problem? or the 2 fittings are not coompatible (ie. mismatched flares)? Jack

I am thinking I replaced the fitting going into the DN50, but my memory could be failing me. I'll have to take a closer look to see what I have going on.
