Title: transmission DL3
Post by: BJ on August 15, 2009, 09:45:41 PM
???  Well, as last reported the trans which we though locked up upon inspection (disassembled) found no problem..So, it had to be the differential. Pulled it and again found nothing to cause the lock up! At this time everything is going back together for a test run and everyone is really stumped.  In talking to the Detroit mechanic he mentioned that the skip plates looked like they had scraped something but there were no marks on the trans (like hitting something)  The driver did have the Jake brake activated and the cruise control on when he came upon a construction area. Dropping off a difference on height in the road pavement a few moments later he felt a  major viberation and the bus came to a sliding stop..  It is still a mystery. When we find out I will post the info for all to read.

Well hard to say what it was. But I will be waiting to hear the outcome!

Interesting enough one of our 2005 Setra S427's is over at Setra North America's Head Quarters in Greensboro, NC right now for upgrades, recalls, and warranty work that didn't get done before we bought them, and the other day they called adn told me the TRANSSMISSION CASE BUSTED WIDE OPEN! But after not hearing anything for a week dad called and asked what was up ! And they then told him it wasn't a busted housing, but only the dipstick tube was loose!
Huh, how do ya confuse a dipstick tube for a CASE BUSTED WIDE OPEN?
