Title: To my surprise
Post by: Airbag on August 15, 2009, 12:07:20 PM
We have always had a small TV in our bus with a crank up aerial and when they went digital I started grumbling and complaining as anyone that knows me would expect. I am stubborn and thought this digital stuff was just a ploy to get more money from us. But after some time I finally broke down and bought a converter and last night hooked it up in the bus. Wow I now see I was wrong for we have twice as many channels and every station is crystal clear. It sure doesn't pay to be a Nattering Naybob of Negativity.

I am sure I am one of the last to figure this out  ;D

Yep!  The government paid for both of mine, at least they help pay for them.

I switched two years ago when they started to put digital on the air. I found out in Yuma I could get all the stations on digital and they weren't available on analog at all. This year I bought the bus a nice new flat screen digital tv that will get both. Jerry

I put a converter box on the 13" TV in front since it is built in and switched out the 9" TV in the bedroom for a 23" Samsung flat panel from Costco (fit perfectly).  Both run through an amplified crank up bat wing an receives the signals just fine.  Good Luck, TomC

So very nice to hear that my "bat wing" will actually work with the new digital signal.  Even better according to a couple of you.  I have used that thing as my primary antenna since 90 and I can swear that that "gimmick", so I thought, RF Amplifier really functions quite well.

Thanks for the assurances,

John

John,

Is it like this one? If so, we have one with the Wingman and have had great luck with it.

Hi Tom
I too run an amplifier, makes a big difference. Is that Samsung built by Five River Electronics? I am curious because they build for Samsung here in the US. In fact they invented the flat screen if I remember correctly. They are one of the last US TV manufacturers left. PBS did a show that featured them some years back. If I buy a flat screen someday I would like it to be theirs.
