;D
Now that was entertaining! :)
Never seen anything quite like that. Was that critter developed prior to tracked vehicles?
The Brits had tracked tanks during WW1.
Jon, reckon we'll see you at Kyle's October 'Non-Rally?'

There is a good chance we'll be there, hope to see you there, maybe it will snow and we can try out the new barrel drives :D
That was pretty neat! Y'all up north could use that in a couple of months! I wonder if anyone is using that technology today.
That was cool! I think it said 1924.
Wouldn't it be awesome to mount a larger version of that on the MC9? My mountain top dream home may just be coming to reality!
I'd guess that the technology is fatally flawed. A few feet on rocks or pavement would grind the screws off the drums.
Tracks are the way to fly. They got tracks for ATVs, pickups, you name it. I saw a wheelchair with tracks on it....or a picture of a wheelchair with tracks... :o
Would also guess that tracked lightweight snow vehicles have a similar weight-per-square-inch of flotation?
That screw deal did have a lot of ground clearance...
JR
Hi John,
I wonder why this concept never took off?? It sure seems to work well.

Dunno, we don't have that kinda snow around here ;), could have use somewhere, maybe ice fishing, could float when the ice gets thin :o
Wonder how it would do in mud & swamps? ???
or in sand dunes like at Glamis :)
Nick, the idea was not fatally flawed. Yankees discovered tires and drove south LOL. Who in the hell invented tires anyway! Regards John

It would float OK....upside down. ;)
I doubt mud would have enough 'grip' for motivation....IMHO.
You noticed that they operated that puppy in about any condtion where it would pull. No mud...just a grass field.
