Title: Trailer Brake & Turn Signals
Post by: edvanland on July 29, 2009, 11:17:05 AM
The brake & turn signal lights have quit working on the trailer.  The Bus lights, MCI 7, all work. The trailer running lights are wired into the house batteries so the running lights have nothing to do with the 24 volt bus running lights.  My head lights are also wired the same way. Last year at Lake Powell had issues with the 12 volt headlights and thanks to all you guys got them to working, then bam the headlights  went out again, so OK I just ran 12 volt wire from my house batteries and no more problems, course had to put in a different head light switch so now I turn the switch down for low beam, dash high beam indicater comes on, push the switch up, high beams come on and the red lavatory light comes on, problem solved. The trailer brakes I have wired with a voltage reducer so the bus brakes activate the the trailer brakes, they work.
What could be wrong other than 20 things?  I am trying to figure out how jo just wire the turn signals to 12 volts and also the brake lights.  Any suggestions?
Thank all of you

If they are all out its probably the ground wire. Guess you could look to be sure they are not all blown though.

That would be my guess, make sure you have power and if so you have a ground issue.

Try a systematic approach:
1. Do you have power at the trailer light socket?
2. If power at the socket, are the bulbs good? (can be checked with an ohmmeter)
3. If you have pwer and bulbs are good, problem is probably a bad ground.
