Title: Seat mount hard points MCI 5C
Post by: bevans6 on July 28, 2009, 02:39:27 PM
I want to mount a passenger seat in the normal spot, just rear of the door steps.  Where in there can I find some hard points to attach a seat frame to?  I was thinking that there should be seat mounting rails, or structure that the seat mounting rails attached to in there somewhere, but it's all under 3/4" plywood so I'm looking for some hints on where to start looking...

My thought is to use some seats from a 2003 GM pickup, since they are fairly comfortable, very heavy duty, and have integral seat belts and shoulder belts built into the seats.

thanks, Brian

The OEM mounting points run alongside the aisle, too far inboard for most of what a busnut does. The outboard side was on the sidewall, again, of little use for this purpose.

Care must be taken, the wheel well is under there, and so are the airbeams. If you are plated, then drive good fasteners down into the beam and move on.

If you were torn down, welding a plate over this area for the purpose is a common strategy.

happy coaching!
