Title: Dyeing nagahyde
Post by: cody on July 20, 2009, 04:13:26 PM
Our ceiling is in good shape except for the white is faded in a lot of areas, has anyone had any luck dyeing nagahyde at all? We've got a nice tuck and roll ceiling and I really want to keep it, just need to make it look better and whiter lol.

The hot tip is the prep.  Use a good vinyl prep and scrub the surface with a soft brush to get it really clean.  After it is dry, blow all the seams to get any remaining water out.

I prefer using the vinyl dyes that you get from an auto body supply house.  You use a spray gun.  Mask everything well.  It comes ready to spray without thinning.

Don't put too much on as it starts to look, 'thick' as it fills in the texture.  I like low/medium air pressure and 1 or 2 coats will be all that is required.  It is actually quite easy to spray vinyl or Naugahyde.

There you go.
