I have been looking at a lot of surge protection devices and power transfer switches on the Internet and am wondering what everyone is using and what units do you fine better than others and why. Looking to buy something soon and want to make a wise choice only once. Surge Guard has the Surge Guard Plus 40250 and and Progressive Industries has the EMS-HW50C. Any thoughts ? Thank You.
I made my own transfer switch.
My surge suppression consists of unplugging the bus during electrical storms, plus a couple of those $10 surge-protected plug-strips for my electronics. Works for us, but we hardly spend any time plugged in.

We have the Progressive Industries EMS (Energy Management System) HW50C. We are very pleased with it. It has shut down our system for out of range frequency anf out of range voltage as well as showing reverse polarity and open ground connections. Jack
