Title: Greetings from Nigeria
Post by: Ben on July 14, 2009, 10:29:26 AM
Hi gentlemen,
Greetings. I'm a newbie on this board. Six years ago, I relocated from Randallstown, Maryland to run a well drilling company in Nigeria. A great big challenge it has been especially when it comes to engines. Our air compressors use either cummins or detroit. Recently I condemned a cummins just because I couldn't find a mechanic here to rebuild it. I then bought a used Detroit 6v92 for an air compressor only to find out I needed left hand rotation. I was looking for information to help my mechanic change rotation when I happened on this board.

I was able to speak to Bill Gerrie and he has been quite helpful. But the engine rotation hasn't worked. After changing the idler gear, crankshaft gear, both cams, oil pump, and the starter, the engine rolls but doesn't start. My mechanic says the blower is pushing out air instead of sucking. He also suggested changing the fuel pump.

Really it would have been better to just get a LH rotation engine, but I can't find them here. I'd appreciate any help I can get from members.

Best regards,
Ben

There are also some very smart diesel fellas here too. Don Fairchild, Clifford Allen, Sonnie Gray, Dallas and a whole bunch more. If I didn't list you it's because I either don't know you or I forgot! More than likely the later. ;)

Welcome, you will get lots of good help here and of course the Yahoo Group too!

Don will tell him what he needs, but if this guy has a directional crank he is dead in water anyway.   good luck
