Title: MCI 9 Bay Doors?
Post by: grantgoold on July 07, 2009, 06:38:46 PM
Looking for one or two bay doors for a 9. Want to fabricate some air flow vents for the genset and AC.  Anyone transition to smooth sides and have a couple doors laying around?

Thanks

Grant

You don't need doors.  Doors are designed to contain the cargo.  All you need are SKINS, to cover the empty space.  If you call around (especially in the Northeast US), you may find some company or shop that has some doors with rusted-out innards.   Cut off the innards and hinge the skins at the top.  The recess where the original latch went can be cut out and replaced with an air scoop which feeds ducting to blow air right were you want it.  Don't forget an exhaust vent.

Have you checked what MCI sells them for? Our skins weren't that much at all. The other option is Sam Caylor. He is pricey though. He makes what he can ;D.

God bless,

IBP in Florida might make up exactly what you want with the right fluting.

Might be easier/cheaper to have them fab it than to cut down a full one depending on the size you are thinking?

happy coaching!

I can't believe I forgot about them. They are probably your best bet. IBP has always been great to work with.

God bless,

John

Thanks for the offer! Unless you know someone who is coming out to the "left" coast that might get costly to get those babies out to CA.

Thanks

This is what I did to vent the side doors to the gen set,, works GREAT!
They are boat cowling vents, stainless steel. Can be found at any boat supply house.
