Title: Bi-fold to Sedan door question...
Post by: travelingfools on July 05, 2009, 07:03:09 PM
Ok, so Ive got the bi-folds off and my plates ready to weld in to hang the door. Ive also got my bottom hinge on. My problem is that I cant locate the molding for the sedan door and my welder is comming over wed to weld the plates in. Will the door shut with the by-fold trim/molding so we can test the door once the plates are tacked in ? Also, this has gone to easy (so far)..Is there anything else Im missing ?

I had to remove the bi-fold molding because the Plug style of the sedan door wouldn't fit.

Try the door in the hole first, You may get lucky..

I used a jack and nylon straps to jocky the door into place and had to climb
through a window to look from the inside....

Yeah.. Mine looks like crap and I went the cheap way and used a stainless
piano hinge. That's what happens when you have to do everything by yourself.

Here is an old picture after I hung the door.

What plates are you welding in? Mine bolted right in, I had to remove the seal for the bi fold. The door I bought was sprung some, nothing some blocks of wood and a 12 pound sledge couldn't fix. Are you putting the air lock on?  Good luck  Tom Y

Yes, tell us about the need to weld!

The mounting points for both styles are present in all examples that I've seen.

But, I've not seen them all!

happy coaching!

Mine is an ex-NJT and does not have the tabs for hanging the door. I was warned about this and got the ones from the donor bus where I got the door.
