The vin/info tag in the bus says the original tire on my bus was 12.5x22.5
I read, in a related thread, the 315/80R 22.5 is close to 12.5x22.5
I now have Goodyear G391E 295/80R22.5
Anyone know of a calculator for 22.5 tires? I'd like to know height and revs per mile on both sizes?
Rick
Rick,
Weight carrying limitations and tire RPM will vary not only by manufacturer, but by model. You can go each manufacturer's website to mfind the information. Jack
315/80R22.5 490 revs per mile, static loaded radius 19.9, overall diameter 42.4 in
295/80R22.5 503 revs per mile, static loaded radius 19.3, overall diameter 41.3 in
You can go to the Goodyear, Michelin, Bridgestone commercial tire web sites and pull that kind of information. I switched from 12R-22.5 to 11R-24.5-mainly since this was the tires that were on my big rig truck, and I was driving at the time. The idea was to be able to bury the cost of new tires of the bus in the cost of the truck-but quit driving before I could take advantage of that. I still have the 11R-24.5's since they are 476rpm tires, and also have them on my KW Truck that I am converting. Good Luck, TomC
Thanks for the info everyone! :)
Maybe I'm not imputing the right search info but I haven't found a site that'll give height/diameter. I've been using a calculator, Dallas shared in the chat room, to determine engine speed & mph and it requires tire height/diameter.
My tires will need replacing in the not too distant future and there are many factors I'm considering. I don't think I want to do new wheels and tires at this point. Although I also want to increase highway speed and tire size makes a difference.
The 315/80R 22.5 seems like the way to go. I understand it's the max size I could go with? If that's not correct, please let me know. I'll be the first to say I don't know. ???

Hi;
If I rember right, the 12.75x22.5 was a leased tire used by
Greyhhound. The tire of choice is 12rx22.5 for our MCI.
I now have 315/80x22.5 tires on the front. (new) and
12rx22.5 used tires every where else.
This the route I have used, your route may vary.
Good luck
Merle.
Merle,
How do you like the 315/80x22.5 tires? What brand did you use?
