I have a 2001 Eldorado Bus that has been used at airports, so it doesn't have a bathroom. I'd like to install a bathroom as I plan to turn this into a party bus. Does anyone have any idea on cost or how to go about this?
Hi Ted,
Welcome!
Your first move would be to find a place for holding tanks under the bus. At that point, you would build a standard RV type water closet/bathroom.
An RV type toilet would work just fine. Try and figure out how many people would be using the bathroom per night and times that by 2 gallons to get
you in the ballpark for holding tank size. The a fresh water tank of at least the same size "or larger is you have a sink" would also have to be presant.
The rest would be standard plumbing..
Good Luck
Nick-
If no room for holding tanks, maybe a chemical toilet (like they use on some of the smaller boats with 'bath rooms' ) would serve your needs.
If I recall correctly, the Eldorados are the type of model commonly used by rental car companies to shuttle passengers to the car lots. So finding a location for a storage tank underneath may or may not be possible. Depending the interior ceiling height, perhaps it might be possible to to build a bathroom with a raised floor.
One other detail that needs to be looked at is the venting of your tanks/plumbing. If you search this forum, it has been discussed in detail.
One last consideration you might look into is the positive affect the bathroom might have on your vehicle titling status. Since you mentioned the bus was previously used at an airport, I would expect that it started like titled as a commercial vehicle. If your plans are to convert it to a "for hire" party bus, it will probably stay commercial. But if this is for your personal use, such as tailgating with friends, you may want to look at your state's requirements for registering it as a non-commercial vehicle. In many states converted buses are registered as motorhomes or other RV designations. There are relaxed insurance and CDL license implications. However, each state sets it's own minimum requirements for re-titling, and some require a bathroom and/or kitchen. It might be worth looking into before you get too far into your planning.

I would definitely go for the chemical toilet, in other words a permanent Porta-potty type.
No extra water to carry, You are going to need to dump after every trip anyway, no need to worry about toilet not working or breaking.
You just need a straight shot down from the toilet.
You might be able to salvage one from a highway coach, and these units were made for the abuse from the general public.
Best of luck
