Title: BCM Announcement for subscribers
Post by: HighTechRedneck on June 25, 2009, 06:59:51 AM
As part of our effort to improve value for our subscribers, we have decided to give all print subscribers access to the online version at no extra charge.  The online version is still available on its own for $10 less than the print subscription.  But now if you have a print subscription you can also enjoy the benefits of the online version.

If you have a current dual format subscription, contact us.  We will calculate the value of the prorated extra paid for the dual format and convert it to extra months on your subscription.

Cool!
Now how do I sign up for a new subscription, since I was a skeptic and let mine expire when things went south and calls & emails weren't being returned!

I want to renew or become a new subscriber now that I know things will be back on track.

Mike, I am going to subscribe to help out but I plan on waiting a few months to see what direction the magazine takes. Me along with some more friends have talked about it and the promises made by Dennis to restore the magazine back to the glory days of the 90's era always come into play very disappointing to me what happen to the magazine after all the promises.       good luck

I remember that as the original editor of BCM I made some promises that I couldn't keep because promises made to me were not kept. I was not the person in full control. Dennis may have been in the same situation.

Looking forward to seeing the magazine either hardcopy and/or electronic form back to its original glory.

I am in Southern California on a working vacation and was going to take a run over to see the people at BCM when I got word of the rebirth of the magazine in Florida.

Larry, Chad is lives in Garden Grove.  Drop him an email at chad@busconversions.com   I'm sure he would love to visit with you and discuss the magazine then and now.

Why not take a chance now? With the cost of paper and print these days I am sure BCM could use the help. I know when it comes time for me to renew I will do it. I have wasted far more money than the cost of my subscription in my time.  ;D The main change I have noticed so far is that I used to get 2 magazines a month now I only get one....I hate it when the boss pays attention lol.

There are several options Bryce.

  • Call me at 863-558-5591

  • Fill in and fax the card below to 877-783-1667 (toll free)

  • Fill in the card and mail it to:
    Bus Conversion Enterprises, Inc.
    1538 SE West Farms Road
    Arcadia, FL  34266-9072

  • Within a week we'll have the online system accepting credit cards again.  It is currently set to do the subscription with payment by mail.  But it seems to be choking on that payment method (it wasn't really designed for it) and has resulted in some blank page type errors.

If you get a chance, you might post the rates for the rag somewhere.  That might help.  I want to send you a check but I don't know how much.

I worked with Dennis when BCM was trying to organize the last rally.  That rally never took place.

Dennis had his hands tied.  As I understand it, he was not a BCM employee.  He did his work on contract.  He had good intentions and ideas, but did not have the backing to get things implemented.

The new ownership should not be judged by decisions made by previous ownership.

I agree Jim! I'm sure everyone is watching to see what happens with the new ownership. It might a bumpy ride at first until they get their feet wet, but I believe that tenacity will get the job done.

The past is the past, now we all need to look forward to the future with optimistic eyes!

Thank you for supporting our efforts with your subscriptions.

We have a lot of work to do to get the magazine back up to its prime.  But the more we work on it and the more we here from everyone, the more we are confident.  We are already finding some former advertisers to be receptive to returning and next week we will launch a major drive for new advertisers.

As mentioned in the other thread, we are changing printers.  This new printer is a company I used to deal with when I worked at McKee.  They do excellent work and gave us a good price.  As a result the belated July issue will already have one of the first improvements - it will mail in plastic.  This will protect it so that you always get it in good condition.  I beleive it will also help with the delivery reliability.

We have some great quality articles lined up for coming issues and are working to get more as we start increasing page count in the coming months.  As you may have noticed in the last few months we have been increasing the focus on self converted buses.  We will continue in that direction.

There are many more tasks being worked on to rebuild the magazine, improve reliability and communication,  attract advertisers and authors, and leverage the web side of things better.  You will see the results over the coming months.  Many of them are just a matter of labor and they will be implemented quickly.  Others (i.e. page count) are revenue dependent and will be fazed in over the next several months as the revenues support them.

As I said before, we greatly appreciate the support of those who have renewed.  And we ask that everyone that can, please consider subscribing.  We are not a big publishing house with 6 or 7 digit budgets.  We are bus nuts with bus poor budgets working to rebuild the magazine back to the point that it properly serves the bus nut community.

I have to say that I was very skeptical about subscribing after reading many things less than positive over the years in the past but things are new now. I did subscribe however and thus far I have to say that Mike has done an outstanding job. Sure, there are always some things that I would have like to see maybe more of or less of but it is improving with each magazine and I find myself always looking forward to the next issue.

Hats off Mike, (HTR) and those who have contributed articles and keep up the good work! I plan on re-upping when the time is due.

One question, will Paypal be an option for payment or is it already? My brain is fried today like most days.

Dave, thank you.  We do our best and one thing I can say with confidence is:  "The best is yet to come."

We had some difficulties getting the PayPal payment module to work properly with the subscription system software due to a couple other programs on the site also using it.  I will see what can be done.  In the mean time, anyone wishing to renew using a PayPal account please contact us (http://www.busconversions.com/contact.html) telling which subscription you would like and filling in the requested info on the form.  I will create a PayPal invoice/payment request and send it to you.  That way you can just click the button on the invoice and pay using your PayPal account.
