Title: road a/c compressor
Post by: bigjohnkub on June 23, 2009, 12:51:04 PM
I have a problem. My road a/c compressor started making weird noises. I disconnected drive shaft, mostly to keep me from using a/c, and found no obvious problem. As I am ignorant of most a/c work , I went by bus repair and they cannot check until 6/29/09. Mechanic did say I needed to start looking for an a/c compressor. My bus is a PD 4903, and has a 3 cylinder Trane compressor. part # 5910771.
May be the same in 4106, 4107 or 4905. Good take out would work.
Thanks ahead of time for your help.

Big John,

Almost certain that KevinHornbuckle has that compressor on hand.  They are rebuildable but the kit that I have seen is made up mostly of gaskets and reed valves.  You sound like you have a mechanical failure.  If you look at that "bus barn" post you will see a steer to Photobucket.  You might see what you want in there but Kevin will know.
