Title: Oil capacity for 6V92 ?
Post by: RickB on June 12, 2009, 07:12:04 AM
Hey All,

That friend of mine with the 6V92 MCI 9 is trying to get a bottom line answer to a simple question.

What is the oil capacity of his engine if he has a standard bus oil pan??

Interstate diesel said 22 quarts and said his serial # didn't matter that struck me as kind of odd as did the 5 and 1/2 gallon suggestion.

He has heard everywhere from 22 quarts to 8 gallons. My thought was two less cylinders, shorter block... maybe it does hold less than an 8V.

Does anyone know if you can easily identify the differences between the standard and the optional pans??

Thanks in advance...

Rick

P.S. I can get his serial # if it would help sort this out.
