Title: Problems de-winterizing our Plumbing System
Post by: qayqayt on June 11, 2009, 09:27:18 PM
When I parked our coach for the winter, I drained the fresh water tank and siphoned that pink antifreeze stuff into the plumbing system, running all the taps until they ran pink.

Now it's time to get her rolling again, so I filled the fresh water tank and turned on all the taps to purge the pink stuff.

The bathroom taps that are closest to the frest water tank and water pump are running just fine.  The toilet flushes too.  But no water from the shower and the kitchen taps are barely running at a trickle.

Have I messed the system up somehow?

Are you saying you opened all the taps at the same time?  If so, your pump is likely incapable of sufficient deliveriy for the entire system.  Open the taps one at a time starting with the one most distant from the pump.  Let it run until it clears up, close the tap and proceed to the next most distant one. You may have to refill and start over to completely purge the system.

Hi All, could the aerators just be clogged?  Not uncommon, and since some work OK???

Hope this helps.

My problems were a little deeper than aerators but essentially the same.  There are also some small areas and screens inside the faucets that were full of gunk.

The toilet flushed correctly but the rest of the outlets if they ran at all ran sluggishly.  I was able to clean all the faucets and aerator screens except the shower head screen.  I just poked a couple of holes.  If you have a delta shower head evidently that problem is common per the advice given me.

All is working correctly now.
