Post by: Ednj on June 09, 2009, 09:47:55 AM
Delaware Rally set for 2nd weekend in August.
8/8/09

Rally Description: Dry camping, Large grass area for Rally for 40+ coaches.
Fresh water on site, Ice on site, and outdoor gathering area.

"Ok putting the feelers out"

Let us know what you think.
Should it be kept simple (bring your own) just a place to park and gather?
Or keep it the same as the past?

Linda and I totally enjoyed the rally the year we attended. Unfortunately, we were unable to make the others. We are looking forward to joining you this year.

With regard to the rally format and the temperatures that are possible that time of year. I would recommend a very limited menu if you really are expecting a big crowd. The amount of work that went into the production of food which was awesome, was unbelievable.

If on the other hand you only expect a small group, do your thing. I don't think you will have any complaints.

Looking forward to August

Hi Alan,
It will be nice nice to see you and Linda again.
I just thought that maybe by simplifying the rally it would draw some of these east Coast buses out of hibernation.
The rally is 2 months away, although it will never be as big as Arcadia but it is closer for the North and Central states.

Hi Ed,

An even better idea would be to have the rally at the state park down at the beach or a campground so everyone has electric, water and sewer if they so choose.

The kids would have lots of fun with park activites, use of pavilions, playgrounds, and the beach.

Just my preference! ;)

Hi Guys,

We attended the Delaware rally in 2007 and we still relive that rally in my bus rally videos on (youtube) a couple of times per week at least such as I am this moment as I listen to the music on the 2007 Delaware youtube video.  If you want to go to a rally within the northern borders or any place you live to attend you cannot go wrong. Here is the address on youtube to click on to see or remember what you missed.

One of the many reasons we loved being with the Delaware gang at Bruce's residence is we did not have to worry about entertaining the kids and worry where they were all day long with all the schools being closed now etc.  Attending a bus rally is one time I enjoy for ourselves, sounds a little selfish but just eating, drinking, singing and raising hell for a weekend is so good for the mind and soul especially with great people as busnuts.  How often do I get to do that, not enough.

This Delaware rally has a very special meaning to us in particular and some know the reason why.  Keeping it simple is good idea, but the girls (Roberta, Kathy, Sue & Linda) preparing the food and snacks had way too much more fun than we knew working in that kitchen (Jello Shots sure helped also) and with Roberta there you know you will eat goooooooooooooddddddddddd!!!!!

You may have to dry camp but you won't be in your rig very long per day or night as you will be partying most of the time there, just ask Al & Linda whom really enjoyed it there as much as anyone.

There is a pool for the kids that is not over 4 ft. deep so you can feel secure the kids are fine and they will eat & swim all day believe me.  Kids remember the pool is for adults after 9 PM. or there bouts.  Everyone sings Karaoke and before you know it daybreak comes and it is time to go to bed for a nap when the temperature is cooler.  Then you start all over again.  Go view the youtube video posted above and enjoy.

Sometimes we talk about buses, but just visiting and catching up for the fast and few hours of the bus rally weekend is priceless.  Consider attending if it is within your travel means and remember, the price of fuel is still climbing again!!  (Good Grief).  Travel while we can.

Safe travels to you and your families, Leave your "GUNS" & problems at home for this rally!!

Gary

Would love to attend. But we have plans for Lake George that weekend and too many plans that would have to be canceled. Will try to attend next year to hang with that gang once again. What a great group. :)
