Title: Electrical suppliers...
Post by: gumpy on June 02, 2009, 01:55:02 PM
Ok, Waytek just pissed me off. So, who has alternative suppliers for electrical terminals and supplies?

I found Del City. Prices on some terminals I checked are comparable. Does anyone know anything about them?

Any other sites I can order online, and not have to call them to find out prices and place orders?

thanks
craig

Craig,
I have ordered switches and supplies from Del City.  I have found Del City & WayTek to be very similar, in quality, variety of supplies and price.  I gotta ask, "what pissed you off at waytek?"  Jack

They charged me nearly $8 to ship a 6x6x4 box of terminals 25 miles. That wasn't a problem, but they shipped 20 terminals of 200 I ordered because they ran out, and they backordered the remaining 180. However, they didn't bother to tell me this before shipping, and then when I questioned why I only got 20 of the 200, they said I'd have to pay shipping again when they shipped the remainder. In other words, another $8 for $5 worth of terminals. Had they told me they were backordered before shipping, I could have had them hold the entire order and ship everything at once and save the extra shipping. On top of it, one item I ordered didn't appear on the order confirmation. I asked them if they could ship that item with the backordered item, and they told me I'd need to place another order for the missing item.

I know, it's petty, but I take a very dim view of gouging on shipping anyway, and when I get stuck with extra shipping because of poor customer relations, I tend to go elsewhere.

Craig,,
I probably would have done the same thing.  I will probably still order tfrom them, but I will ask if anything is on backorder before finalizing the order and ask them to read back the entire order.  If questioned as to why I am doing this, I won't hesitate to tell them.  Jack

Craig.  I have used Del City for several years.  Have always had good service.

As a follow up:

I needed to make several order's for items recently from Waytek.

I ordered completely on-line and specified in the comments to "Do not ship anything less than the complete order"

I noticed both order's did not ship until several days after the initial order(usually its same or next day), but were complete and only one shipping charge.

Thanks for the heads up Craig.....
