Bruce Knee, myself & maybe a few other East Coasters will be flying out to Oregon for a few days. I am wondering how many people/coaches are planning to be there. I look forward to seeing some fabulous West Coast busses and any others that will be there. Give a shout out to check in.
Eric
Flying? You got wings ondat daer coach or what? How ya gonna enjoy yer coach flying? I know when ya buy plane tickets they ask 1st class or coach? But that ain't quite the same as using and enjoying all the hard work ya'll put into these coaches! :D
Last year there was about 175 coaches. Lots of wonderful people and oodles of great food. We plan to be there again, if I don't cook another motor. Cable
We will be attending and will be vendors for the third year.
The Eagle, barring some major problem in the interim, will be at its first bus rally!!
The rally is great, and the location is also very nice. There are motels not to far from the activities (thank goodness we won't need them this year)
I will be attending... but like Jim ...barring any disaster in the interm
Ron
We intend on bringing Gus to the party!!! ;D It will be our third time there and Gus' second.
What a great rally!!!!
Is there an entrance fee for those who just want to look around.
I am just in the "thinking about it" stage of looking at buses. So much to learn it's a little scary.
Are there motels there or do you have to go back to salem?

If it is the same as last year, you can just wander in and look around if you like. If you want eat or attend seminars, then you need to register. Check out their website at: http://www.busnusa.com/
Craig

I hope to go this year, looks like eveybody has a great time .

We stayed at the Courtesy Inn in Monmouth (503-838-4438). It is a n OK motel with a quick food restaurant next door and a good full service restaurant on the other side.
Monmouth is about 7 miles south of the fair grounds.
The other close town is Dallas, OR. We did not look into motels there, as the Courtesy served us fine. My mapping program shows that there is a Best Western in Dallas.
Hi All
My wife and I plan to fly out from Springfield MO. Bus not ready yet. :( We have made reservations at the Best Western in Dallas OR. People very nice on the phone and reported only 45 minutes from the coast. I have sent a couple of emails to the Busn' folks asking who and what the seminars are going to be. Reply was "we don't know yet and won't till 1 week before". Hope the seminars are worth the $1500 cost for the trip. But with 175 buses last year, should get some good ideas for my conversion. :o
Hope to see and meet many on the board.

I was there last year and plan to be there again this year. I live in Salem, OR so is not far to go. If I can help in any way E-mail me alkco1@msn.com.
The thing that I would like to see would be an open house of coaches that are present.

Yeah but look at the fun we'd be missing along the way! Can you harrass the pilot and get away with it? Not! Can a group of bus nuts say hey pilot pull over here we wanna check this or that out? Not! Will the plane pick you up, and drop you off exactly where ya wanna be? Not! Does the plane have air brakes in case of emergency to use to pull over and wait for a tow plane?LOL! Not! See chartering a bus has advantages!
;D Knuckle ;D
We attended in 2004 but missed last year. Not sure if we'll get that far west this summer, but maybe. I wonder how far in advance of the rally is the absolute cut-off date for registration to be included for meals, etc.
I can be thinking about you guys until my bus gets ready :(
A later event...
Danny
Linda, you could probably register at the gate....I'd call the host to confirm though. http://busnusa.com/
Organizing an event of this magnitude is always a challenge.
One of the most demanding is trying to plan for the food. When folks "drop in" it can creat a terrible problem for Joe and the great folks who order the food and do the fantasitc cooking. Joe plans extraordinary meals and orders very special cuts of meat from a special supplier and has to submit that order in advance. Of course, he plans for some margin, but if many folks wait unitl the very last minute it really creates a problem.
Bus Nuts who's bus' are not yet finished......GO TO THIS RALLY. You will see some of the most incredible ideas to carry back to your own coach. Fly, drive, train....stay at a hotel. One of the best rally's I have ever been to.
The Best Western in Dallas is great.......close to WalMart. Hotel is pretty new.....Still can't get use to the full service gas stations.....

To add to Rich's comments, Bring your incomplete bus project, too. People love to see what's "under the hood" of a bus conversion. There is vitually every level of completed buses there at the Rally, from Marathon (generally) to someone who just bought thier bus shell and have not started it. It
IS the best place to get ideas and ask advise from people that have actually done the work of converting a bus. Lots of good information, GREAT food and a wonderful place to make new friends. Well worth the effort of going.... :)

Can't go this year, but we came up from Texas last year. Here we are on the way at Diamond Lake Oregon. Notice the snow on the mountain. This was the most beautiful park we stayed at.
Our trusted Oreo is guarding the door.
Patti and I will be there again this year. We were there laast year and really enjoyed it.
It was nice to see some of the West Coast people that we havent seen before,
we also made a 8000 mile trip out of it and had a wonderful time, also got to see
lots of beautiful Country.

Sonnie, Very Funny!! :D
I did offer to do the engine conversion seminar that you and I did in Arcadia for Bussin 2006, but Dick said that they had too many seminars lined up already. Would have been fun!!!!

Jim - Put on a pot of coffee (or better yet a nice cobbler in a dutch oven) and do an informal pitch bus-side some evening. That could be real fun! Might even be better with the bus right there for "show and tell". That may make for a real long day for you but I bet you would get a group to show up!
I'm EXCITED.............Looks like we may be there again this year.......It is such a good rally......Dave, Bob & Dick and families put on such a great show....It cost' a lot of money to show up, hopefully when the dust clears we will have taken some orders & helped to pay for some of it. We are probably going to do a road trip on the way in or out to visit lots of fleets up & down the West Coast.

Rich, the road trip seems like a good idea. We think that there's a good chance that we can get to Rickreall, this year, too.
The big problem is that it's too soon to tell for sure.
