No secret that the price of gasoline is creeping back up again. Meanwhile diesel fuel hasn't seemed to move as much. Today, while running errands around town, I saw the first local station where a gallon of Regular Unleaded equals the price for a gallon of diesel (ULS).
Here in Taxilvania, both are $2.49. Interesting the way gasoline and diesel prices see-saw, instead of staying lock-step.
I have long wished Detroit would introduce some passenger models with the new clean burning diesel technology. I'd love to see something a little bigger that a Jetta TDI. The BMW 335D is way more engine than needed. Wish they would bring their 520D or 525D stateside.
Here diesel is running $2.25 and gasoline is $2.45. Diesel was $2.19 until about four days ago.
In L.A. yesterday, 2.39 for Diesel, 2.69 for regular. I love it since my Mercedes is Diesel that I drive everyday (also with 330,000mi on the original engine and transmission). Good Luck, TomC
Around SATex, 2.09 for diesel, 2.26 for reg. Got everything full!

Part of the reason I traded in my diesel Golf for gasser is because of the price premium for diesel. Of course, as soon as I do that diesel prices fall like a rock in comparision.
I still believe that long term diesel is going to cost 40 to 60 cents a gallon more than gasoline as construction and shipping pick up again.
Somebody refresh my memory, what were the reasons given for diesel being a $ more than gas???
The typical explanation for higher diesel prices had simply been high demand and profits. Demand for diesel had been increasing for years as the economy grew and more and more stuff was shipped from overseas.
Refiners can make more money on diesel in good times as most diesel users can't switch to higher MPG vehicles and most diesel users need fuel at almost any cost. Businesses can't cut back on fuel use as easily as families.
Gas has gone to 2.69 at most places, here in Lansing MI. Diesel is now as high as 2.49, and as low as 2.18 (I filled up!)

WEC,
Noticed that here locally also. Have to admit it was worth a grin or two. ;D
I filled Her up at $2.19 and smiled, better than at $5.00 on my way to and from Texas last Summer.
Take the good with the bad and "keep on a rolling"

Last year, september 2008, that was 1.59$ for diesel...
