Title: Anyone have a good 8v92 for sale?
Post by: Dakell12 on May 15, 2009, 10:28:32 AM
My 8v92 is on its (very) last legs, and I need to find a replacement engine. Does anyone have an extra in great condition with low miles on a rebuild? Any advice as to where to find one? I am in Denver.

I don't have any rebuilt at this time but you should check with Nimco
to see what they have for take outs, You can also check with a-z bus in cal.

Hope this helps

Check with Nick at Nimco. We got our motor from him, used, several yrs ago. No problems at all.

My son-in-law (Ron Davis) has a 8v92 that he built himself that he wants to sell. I was thinking about putting it in our bus but our 8v71 is doing so good I don't want to mess around with the upgrade (except when I am doing 25 mph going up a mountain road).

I don't know what he is asking for it, I am sure it is negotiable and very reasonable and I know it is a good engine. Ron was trained as a diesel mechanic at a school there in Denver about 25 years ago and has worked for several years at the Smith Allison Diesel shop in Reno Nevada for about 7 years and at a bus fleet operation for several years and has worked for the state of Nevada as a diesel  mechanic for the last 10 years. He knows his stuff and can give you the lowdown on his engine. He is by far the most productive son-in-law I have especially since we purchased our bus.

You can contact him (775) 753-8292 or email him at rmsma@frontiernet.net, my guess is he would install it if you could drive your bus to Elko Nevada. I emailed him last night and he asked me to give you his contact info because he wasn't able to post here since he isn't a member of this board.

I hope it isn't improper to post this reply, if so I apologize, I don't get anything out of the deal just trying to help a fellow busnut.
