Title: MCI A3 Questions
Post by: gmpd4104 on May 09, 2009, 02:47:43 PM
What do they use for power steering fluid?

This one has the air dryer poping off prior to low air buzzer going off and before Full pressure.  I was under the assumption that they were supposed to pop off when the system reached the governed PSI

Thanks in advance

According to the manual, it uses 10W-40 oil.

If the air dryer is popping off before the low air warning shuts off, something is wrong!

the Bendix D-2 governor valve on most air compressors are usually suspect, but you did not say if the compressor stops building air or not. Does the compressor build air to the max (115-135 or so)?

Both the compressor stops pumping AND the air dryer purges as they get signals from the governor. Since it is a $cheap part (less than $50) just replace it...you'll need it sooner or later. And don't be like a bunch of cheapskates out there, buy a new one and a genuine one at that (Bendix or Haldex) and if you want to go one step better, get a high temp /high pressure version, like the Midland/Haldex KN28501 (I think).

compressor does build to 125 and the system holds that easily while driving.

does have a long time to build from 85 or so on up, but just on build from 0 psi or after sitting a bit.

from 125psi brake applications bring it down the compressor has no issues building the pressure back instantly.
