Title: GM 4905 Front Floor Replacement
Post by: pabusnut on April 29, 2009, 05:25:06 PM
I know this has probably been asked before, but has anyone replaced the front plywood floor in the stepped area behind the front steps.  I already replaced the main floor, but didn't get to the front.  I know I saw pictures of the structure under the front somewhere, but I guess I didn't save them :-[ .

I don't want to tear out more than I have to, but at the same time, I want to replace all the wood I need to, and restore it to good and useable condition.  The passenger side is bad, but the driver's side doesn't seem bad, but then I haven't cut the linoleum off to check it yet either!

If anybody knows of pictures that show the structure under the front floor, I'd love to see them, before I get too far into the "ripping and tearing mode."

Thanks!

The "flight deck level" aluminum floor bracing extends to the front wall of the battery / aircon bay.

You can floor that, with bumps for the wheel wells.  There are no surprises under there, except that you need to make a provision for the control cables and wiring which come up from under the flight deck to the front of the tunnel.

This area is an excellent place for storage of items which you want to keep inside the coach but out of the way.

Flight Deck? do I suspect a multi engine driver here?  ;D

I am a single-seater pilot.  For amusement, and to keep me out of the pool halls, I fly Experimental Flight Test.  To pay back to the country, I fly air search.

I also have some experience with machines which in many way resemble airplanes but which are much larger, are equipped with doors and more seats for people who can thus admire my skill as an aviator, yet somehow manage to take to the air.  As my coach reminds me far more of such things than it reminds me of true freedom-of-flight aircraft, the term seems to fit.  ;)

I have been assured that, when I die, I will pass into Heaven after acknowledging two facts.  First, that there is only one God, and second, that it's not ME.
