Title: air conditioning
Post by: ruthi on April 25, 2009, 02:21:16 PM
Has anyone had any experience with cruise aire? We are considering having 3 of them installed in our new bus. I know they are expensive, but, they keep it really cool, if one goes out, youre still in business. They do take up some room, inside and in the bays. We saw a unit that had the front air built into an end table, looked nice. Just wanted to get some opinions before we spend that kind of money. Thanks

Hi Ruthi,

As an installer, I have lots of expierence with them. They are built for the abuse of road travel as well as having a better warranty then

normal roof tops. I have seen many last 20 years +. Take your time with planning out the systems to get the most space in your layout.

If you need any guidence, just hollar..

Good Luck

.Good luck and you will enjoy the units with the variable speeds and touch pads

Thanks yall, Nick, where are you located? Can you install them. We were told we would need 3 of them for best effieciency. 43 ft bus. What do you charge to install them? We want them to be vented in the floor. Is it possible to install the inside unit under the floor? You can send us an email at k55ga@aol.com.  We need the driving area to be cool. We also want them to be heat pumps. Thanks

Ruthi,

I think Nick sells these as well as installs them.  If it were to not work out that he could install them, you might consider having him drop ship your units to your installer.  I am sure you would benefit from having Nick do the work.

Good luck,

John

Clifford, you said, "When buying make sure they are made for land use and not marine"

I am assuming that the marine unit is made for the Marine environment and naturally priced accordingly, ie, double the price!LOL
Are the road units 'beefier' than the marine units?
Thanks a ton!
Jack

The main difference between the land units and the marine units is that the land units use air cooled condensers, compared to the marine units that are water cooled by the water you're floating in.  The evaporators are the same.  Good Luck, TomC

Jack, those units have a marine price for the land use also LOL, the land units will operate at a higher temp than the water use one.
I have 3 of the units with 2 mounted in the spare tire compartment love these units
Off topic here but do you know were I can buy a good marine TV antenna the round type with a remote control I don't want a RV type my antenna the motor has quit and parts are no longer available for it.   thanks
