I would love to do this but don't have the time or money required. Check it out:

That sort of thing has a great "gee whiz" factor but how useful is it? It takes me maybe 5 minutes from the time I start the trucklet to pull around behind the bus until we are ready to roll. And another 5 minutes to unhook. In return I get full use of my bays plus - and this is a BIG plus - we get to carry stuff in the trucklet. You give up enough bay space to stick a car in there and see how much capacity you have left to carry BBQs and lawn chairs and clothes dryers and spare oil and extra soft drinks and and and. Not to mention that when we travel the trucklet is full of stuff like the satellite dishes as well.
As far as I am concerned, no thanks even if I could afford it which I can't.
Do you think I could do that with my Cherokee? Actually, I really don't like pulling a toad, but it seems to be a necessity. An inflatable car that folds down to about a 2' x 2', 50 pound box would be my ideal. Oh yeah, it should be cheap too.
I am with Bob....firmly. My Ranger 4X4 is my toad and it also carries a load. I expect to always have that same basic rig. 4X for excursions and smaller version for economy and truck with lockable cap for the underway/OTR cargo space. And now that I have the Bilstiens on it, Wifey will ride in it so I guess it functions as transportation.
Just My Thoughts,
John
Even if you can't persuade yourself that it's worth doing just for the coolness factor, there is a major and undeniable advantage with this system if you are like me and want to be able to tow boat behind your bus, and still take a car with you as well. A friend of mine in South Africa tows a caravan (travel trailer) behind his car, and his boat behind his caravan. Theoretically you could do that in the UK as well if you had a showman's licence.
When I first started to look at bus conversions I seemed to regularly come across people with 'baggage bay cars' (cut down Minis etc), but I get the impression that idea has gone out of favour now

People look at my toad and think, Ford Windstar minivan, I look at it and think "shed". JIm
