Title: Allison 740 tranny HELP
Post by: revbusnut on July 03, 2006, 10:00:18 AM
I have a MC 8 my son (12) and I are converting.  After a year of working and stealing some time between school, ball , may schedule as a pastor we took our first camping trip.  Two nights at Lake Anna State park near Fredericksburg VA.  Beautiful park and campround.  We had one adventure ont he way.  In the food lion parking lot a banged the steering againest the stop and blew a line.  Gallahan's Hose and Hydraulics were awesome.  Got us right in.  Fixed in less than an hour. 69 for th hose and 70 for labor and we were on our way.

Now to my question.  The bus has set for a while. I try to drive it monthly but do not always succeed. The tranny seems to stutter or slip when accelerating and it is shifting 2 to 3 and 3 to 4.  Any help.  Am I in for deep trouble and rebuild or does it jsut need run.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.  Kevin  " Revbusnut" ???

I am not a trans specialist, but I would change fluid and filter and make sure the level is full first if it ran right the last time out. The old 740 should last a million miles if not overheateat and serviced right. Blessings, Charlie
