I'm pretty sure the only thing that fits in a MC-5 is a 640 series Allison. I've looked into changing mine over to an auto a few times.

Hi Fred
I have thought about converting mine also, the plus side is my wife could drive it but every time I think back on the recent high fuel prices I come to my senses.

By coming to your senses, do you mean putting in an automatic or letting your wife drive??   ;D ;D ;D ;D

What bus is it that you are looking at? Is it located in Idaho?

im from the great white north, the bus is located near toronto, canada, has a rebuilt 671 , but the rust got the better part of it, so lots off parts for 700.00, the trans is worth that for me for a spare, plus all the extras

If it has the original steering wheel in good shape and the tube type spring loaded bay door supports, i would be interested in buying them from you if you wanted to sell them.  Also the plate on the front of the bus that has the MCI or Challenger emblem on it.  :)
