Hi, I am new to your site and am very interested in bus conversions.
I was wondering if anyone has seen this one? http://slo.craigslist.org/rvs/1118912586.html
I would be interested in hearing people comments.
Offer them 7500, he's not even close on his estimate of having 100K invested.
I'd give him 15K for it. ;D
(Cody, could you loan me 15K) ???
Bill
You're buying a stripped 27 year old shell (albeit a nice looking, low miles shell, if what he says is accurate), 2 inverters, some used batteries, and an oversized generator.
I'd say $15K is about right on the offering price. Maybe $20K tops with the side entry door.
He could have $100K in it. He bought it fully converted and stripped it. Not real smart, in my opinion.
Welcome Jr.,
One thing you will find on this board is a lot of honest opinions-funny how everyone seems to have at least one, and sometimes more. The major drawback to that bus if you're interested in a Prevost per say is that it's not a Le Mirage. I passed on one of this body style several years ago for $19500. and that was before the economic downturn-it was completely converted and well done even if a little dated. I'm sure a lot of people on this board will give you better or more accurate information than I, but the final decision is up to you as to its worth.
Good luck and ask lots of questions,
Will & Wife
Thanks for the info. I was not really interested in buying, just wanted to see what people thought. I see that the listing has been updated with a lot more information.
Interesting. I don't believe I have ever seen a Prevost like that before. From the small picture it looks very much like an MCI of the era.
I have a question for you Prevost guys isn't that a Marathon model Prevost I thought the Prestige had the curved side windows good luck
I don't think this is the same bus. But close enuff to be a twin. Same converter I think. I have no idea how much this bus sold for. I saved it because I really like the style of it and was looking at a Prevost Champion a while back, almost the same paint and steering wheel too.

Clifford, the Prevost Champion is the predecessor of the Le Mirage, even though they do overlap quite a few years. The Le Mirage has the slope windows which makes them unmistakable. Marathon is (was) a converter company in Oregon that specialized in converting new Prevost's. Our Mirage was originally a Marathon conversion, but except for the real woodwork and counters, not much else is original any longer.
Did that answer your question,
Will
Will, I found a little history on the square window bus on www.busexplore.com the Marathon replaced the Champion in 1983.
I knew I had seen one before at Southern Oregon Diesel but wasn't sure about the model it was a nice looking bus.
It looked strange to me with the square windows not a Prevost trademark.
thanks and good luck
Well for what it is worth, I called and left a message for Joel Reed...asked him to call me tomorrow (Thursday).
He called me back this morning and the bus is listed on ebay...I'm gonna go look for it now.
Lots of pictures on his ebay ad, interesting that the coach ONLY has a mid section side entry door, not in addition to the one that is usually in the front.
