Title: Recomendations for parking near Vancouver BC
Post by: Zeroclearance on April 07, 2009, 09:52:47 PM
Would like to come across the border this weekend.   Any recommendations for parking for a few days?

It all depends where you want to go.  Its not cheap but we stay in Capilano RV if we are going to Vancouver.  Traffic in Vancouver is a bitch - Capilano is $$$$$ but it is so close to downtown that you don't have to mess with the traffic.  If you want to stay further out for less money there's one in Surrey at the south end of the Port Mann bridge, literally right before you get on the bridge.  I can't remember the name - its kind of trailer trashy but we have stayed there and it was pleasant enough.  If you are going to stay that far out then you will need to catch the sky train into town because driving in is just too frustrating.

FWIW, here's a link to our weblog from last fall with my comments about the WallyMart in Surrey.

Here are a couple of links to 2 campgrounds near the border, Pacific Borders is right at the truck border crossing and Hazelmere is 5 min. from there. Fort Langley camground is also a good one it is a little further away.

we take our dog to Pacific Borders and Fort Langley, but I haven't stayed at Hazelmere so I don't know their pet policy.

We had the cat there but when he doesn't leave the bus he doesn't really exist.  I guess that's probably not an option if you have a dog.

$45/night last September but like I said - its right downtown.  Maximum 20 minutes to the West End or Gastown vs. maybe 2 hours or more from some of the other places that have been recommended.

If North Vancouver is Ok - there was an RV park near the Lions Bate bridge that I believe took pets - you might call the nice people at GoWest RV Centre 800-661-8813 and see if they have any suggestions - HTH

I believe you are referring to Capilano, almost underneath the bridge.

I live in Fort Langley and can give you approx travel times to Downtown Vancouver

During non-peak and weekends

From Fort Langley-- approx 1 hour
From Hazelmere--  aprox45 minutes
From Pacific Border-approx. 1 hour.

If you come up with any other options I can probably tell you those time as well.

Thanks folks..    I looks like we are staying at Pacific Borders.   It looks like a good park.   I did call Capilano RV and asked if we kept our small 10 week old puppy inside the bus if it would be okay.   No dice..

What about the Burnaby Cariboo RV Park in Burnaby??? (8765 Cariboo Place, 604-420-1722, fax-604-420-4782)
Many RV rallies held there. Much closer to Vancouver.
