Southern Arizona Rally March 20-21-22, 2009 Larry & Carol Hall hosted the Southern Arizona Rally March 20-21-22, 2009. This is a Western GM rally held in Sahuarita, AZ, just south of Tucson. Free Parking hosted by the Desert Diamond Casino.
They all caravanned to the Hall's ranch for an outdoor cook-out and music by The Michael Hargis Show. They brought their own meat of choice and Larry cooked it on his mesquite fire grill. The Halls furnished Bar-b-Que beans, macaroni & potato salad, lots of finger food and drinks. Larry took us on a tour of his big boy toy collection that included a hot rod, an airplane and 3 buses along with a very large workshop full of stuff. Michael sang a little from each genre so the group could get a feel of the show and an idea of what they want to hear next year. He dedicated the 1st song "Rolling with the Flow" to Larry for all his rally work. We handed out tickets for album give-aways. Bob of the North was chosen to pick the first winning ticket. Guess who won it? Well, Bob of the North, of course! Later in the show, Carmen won the second drawing. We played one hour before dinner and one hour after.
Christi had the chance to chat with experienced bus women. The most prevalent comment was, "you will never really be done with your bus". We talked about flooring choices, which was good because it seemed our choice of laminate flooring is a good one. We really can't wait to just get on the road. It was fun to meet all the other bus nuts. What a good time we had! We booked the Quartzite, AZ, rally in Jan. 2010 for the group. All the best, Michael & Christi
Well they passed the can to me with the ticket stubs in it so I pulled out mine. What else was I gonna do? Mama Evans raised tall kids not stupid ones.
We all sure did have fun this weekend. The frenchy-bus travelled incognito all weekend. I don't think anybody noticed that it wasn't a real GM.
Michael did a fine job last night but I think he may have been lip-synching. ;D ;D Christi is obviously the brains of the organization because she makes it look like Michael is singing and keeps everything together for him. Larry & Carol were the perfect hosts, they even laid on a dramatization of an INS takedown that looked remarkably real and took place right in front of our lined up busses. That will be a pretty hard act for any rally organizer to top - ever.
Well, Bob of the north, thank you for that lip-synching compliment. I am really not worthy. When I broke into the performing world, I was called "The Chameleon" (Hence, the album you won, Chameleon Moods) because I can sound like the original artists. In our larger, less intimate shows, I often have to stop the show and sing a few verses acappella to put the audience at ease. I will put it in the Quartzite, AZ, rally in Jan. 2010. And you are right about Christi, aka Hit it Honey, is indeed in charge. My mama didn't raise no fool either! All the Best Michael & Christi Hargis
