Title: Seat removal
Post by: Airbag on March 21, 2009, 07:12:08 PM
I need to how to get the drivers seat out of my MC-5A. The ratchet stops at the top. Is that screw looking thing in front of it the key? My manual says nothing about how to release it. Thanks in advance

I think there is a plunger that needs to be depressed while pulling up on the seat? Since I am a one man band it will have to wait till tomorrow when I can get help.

Sounds like that you have a National Seat.
The plunger with a straight slot is the release for removing the seat from it's pedestal.
Depress plunger while turning the plunger CCW with a flat blade screw driver.
The plunger will lock in the depressed/unlock mode which will let you remove the seat assembly by lifting the seat assembly straight up.
Hope this helps. ???

Thanks John
It was great talking with you this morning and the seat is in. Man what a difference between seats, much more stable and firm. I had a bit of a time getting the ratchet to behave but after soaking it with some lube it started working. Mounted my fire extinguisher and tail light so it's been a productive day.

Thanks again
