Whats the average weight we will be adding to our bus when all of the standard systems and fixtures are in place? Thanks, M&C
Thanks Dream & Henry. Heres the poop. 1987 MCI 102A3, full time. tile shower, RV 1 holer, 100 b/g, 100 h2o, music eq.=300lbs, tile counter tops=7.5 lft. full size refer, roof airx2. std tools with mig welder+bottle, geney. min batts. will stay in parks 95%.
It really all depends on what you do add. Everyone is different, some have a clawfoot tub while others have a shower, some use granite others use formica laminate. Some have one 100 gal. black/gray tank, others have two seperate tanks. You get the picture? There is no standard rule of thumb. Could be from 1,000 to 3,000 lbs. or much more. Some carry that much weight in tools. ;) You will never put as much stuff in as the coach was designed fully loaded with passengers and luggage and room for freight. That is unless you cram it really full. ;D Weigh it empty before you add anything, so you know where you're at to start with.
Happy Trails my blogger friend,
~Paul~
Varies all over the map depending upon the exact type of donor coach and your particular application. Weekend use; full timing; boondocking; all electric; all make a big difference.
Let us know exactly what kind of coach you have or on planning on and the type of exact use you expect. Warning; these coach always will gain more weight than expected. HB of CJ

We stripped our MC-8 to a shell and it weighed about 24,500. After converting (100 gal B/G, 100 gal. water, Ceramic tile shower, bathroom floor, bath vanity & backsplaqsh, kitchen counter & backsplash, oak cabinets, wood floor, 10 KW diesel generator). We weighed the bus with full fuel & water & empty holding. We weighed about 34,500. Jack
Our coach weighed 28,500 empty and weighs 47,500 now, for a conversion weight of 19,000 lbs.
We did not weigh everything going in, but here's some of it:
Item Unit Quantity Unit Wght Weight
Water Gallons 200 8.33 1666
Fuel Gallons 300 7.3 2190
Batteries, 8D AGM each 8 167 1336
Motorcycles each 2 350 700
Fridge each 1 86 86
Microwave each 1 78 78
Roof Airs each 3 105 315
Inverter each 1 105 105
Granite Counters Square Feet 56 7 392
Captains Chairs each 2 55 110
Webasto each 1 33 33
Heaters each 7 8 56
Coolant Gallons 12 8 96
Generator each 1 600 600
LCD TV each 1 40 40
Mattress each 1 77 77
Total 7880
The rest comes down to woodwork (probably the bulk of it), furniture for which I do not have weights, wire, fixtures, plumbing, awnings (heavy, but I don't have the numbers), and, of course, all of our worldly possessions. Don't underestimate this last item -- dishes, pots, pans, silverware, etc. etc. can add up to quite a bit, not to mention clothing, toiletries, and, of course, food. I would have to guess our personal belongings and consumables come to over 4,000 lbs, when you count the tools.

Great. Thank you very much. M&C
I only added about 2,000 lbs to my bus from the original weight so far. The added weight does not include and water or pots and pans and the like since I don't have any on the bus right now.
I took out about 3000 lbs of scrap metal and trash during the stripping process so I added in about 5,000 lbs.
I added around 10K to the shell
Shell weight was 27K
Finished conversion around 37K
Stripped my bus weighed 28,000lb. With 3/4" plywood cabinets and walls, blown in insulation, formica counter tops, full of fuel, water, propane with my wife and I in the bus, we weigh 31,000lb for an additional 3,000lb. Good Luck, TomC
