Title: Does anybody know the specs for the 102 style radiators Part# 6K-1-5?
Post by: RickB on March 09, 2009, 10:13:59 AM
Hey all,

I'm trying to get a quote from General radiator for the larger style radiators and they need the following info:

Height, width and thickness of the core itself and width and length of the header plates. I know it's a shot in the dark but i just thought I'd try.

thanks,
Rick

Rick,

First...,.i don't know!  Remember that.  For a rad to fit it must have the same dimensions as the one you are removing "except" the thickness.  Adding a row of tubes, an extremely good idea, will ad thickness but all the other dimensions should stay the same.  There is also te serpentine and dimpled rod options that greatly improve the performance.

I know this didn't answer you question but maybe it gave you more things to consider.  Personally I would quote the dimensions asked and add how much thicker I could tolerate and ask about the core options.

I think many are curious about those dimensions and the options you discover and of course...cost.

Thanks,

John

John,

I am just going to go with the "stock" larger style size radiator core out of the 102a3. No extra rows of tubes, besides the tubes obviously can't extend past the header plates or tanks that they fit in as there would be no way to enclose them.

All the correspondence of the last week has led me to believe that everyone that has went with that setup was more than happy with the performance with my setup. If anyone out there is unhappy with this setup I am all ears.

So if anyone out there has the larger 8v92 type radiators a tape measurement would be appreciated, otherwise I will be picking up the two that I intend to rebuild later this week. Just though it might expedite shipping.
Thanks,
Rick
