Title: Off to look at buses!
Post by: PacNWNomad on March 07, 2009, 07:56:09 AM
Well, we're leaving in a couple hours, we're going to go look at a few buses today, including from a fellow bus nut here! We're so excited (yes, clearly we either need help, or we're just nuts!).

Now, does anybody have a checklist handy that we can print out and take with us? Things to look for, questions to ask, etc?

My favorite bus for conversion is the MCI 102C3.  It is 40ft x 102" wide (compared to 96" wide for most others).  The extra 6" width really opens things up, it has big windows and good headroom.  Check it out.  Good Luck, TomC

Yes, when we get down to buying, we'll definitely put a 102" at the top of our list. Right now it's all about learning as much as we can, and figuring out how long we can survive in our travel trailer lol.

Wow. Um.

Wow.

I don't feel like ripping out all of the electrical and starting over with that, so that's off the list.

Anyone that wants a bus that has extension cords taped together running to the breaker box, this is the bus for you!

Nope, I have no sense of adventure at ALL. LOL

Code? I'm not sure any code was consulted at all when that bus was put together....

So what are you looking for?   A bare bus, a conversion completed and entertainer, lots and lots to look at?   LOL  How deep is your wallet?   All important questions to know before you go looking.

Bill, we're in the "look at whatever you can whatever you can" phase of things. I'd guess we're about four to six months out from an actual purchase. We don't want to move too fast and get in over our heads (haha), but we also don't want to wait until it gets winter to sell our travel trailer. We're undecided between bare shell and already converted - thus far there are pros and cons both ways for us. Hence "look at whatever you can whenever you can".

Nomad,

I have three buses in Portland that I would be willing to show you.  I have an MC 9 that will be for sale in about three weeks.  I am not a dealer just a busnut with too many buses at home.  i am willing to talk buses almost anywhere anytime.

Call me if you'd like,Bill 503 789 9311
