I'm going to guess Dodge. In the 50s, my dad had a Dodge step van with a similar looking front end. My dad also started his school bus business in 1940 with a 1937 Dodge bus, but it had a conventional front end.

The prize is the usual, you get to come up to montreal, live aboard my bus in a bus yard and help me with all the repairs (at night when I'm gone you can roam the yard checking out old transits, gms and mcis.... I can't provide $ for food or transportation, but I have all the old grease and oil on hand to keep you skin smooth and supple.
I know what the badge on the front of the bus says, but it may have been rebadged. Next time I'm up there I'll check the i.d. plate.

Airbag & PP are winners -- it is a Flxible. Specifically, a Flexette.
Some properties bought them as minibuses, and, if I remember, there were a bunch running around Atlantic City as jitneys. They didn't have a good reputation for durability, but remember they were also very lightweight buses (spelled c..h...e...a...p). I don't remember what they had for engines, but the configuration is much like some Superior transits (very badly named) that I ran in Ohio 20 years ago. The drivers took a beating sitting next to that engine all day.
I'm already spending a couple of weeks working with the transit system in Gary, Indiana, where the temperature is in the low 20's before the chill factor --- so Montreal weather wouldn't be that much more of a prize (punishment). Thus, I'm glad others were first with the right answer.

So what kind of MCIs are in that yard? Any 5s? I am looking for an original steering wheel and the spring loaded tube type bay door struts, :)

OK so here's the problem...I didn't check inside the bus, so I guess I really don't know who made it. As you can see it's badged as a Prevost, it may actually be one of their first efforts, or maybe it is just badged. I'll have to ask Malcolm as well, he owns the yard and seems to keep mostly buses of interest.
Re Ed's request.. it's kind of more of a bus yard than scrap yard, 'though there is a buffalo that will be scrapped out. I also don't know one MCI from another, but I'll ask M about the door stuff and wheel stuff.

I'm not up on Prevosts, so I may have been wrong about the Flexette, but it sure looks like a Flexette according to my memory. Now, what did I have for dinner last night, and what city am in in this week? It looks like my trick for selecting rental cars (always get one with a licence plate from a distant state) is becoming more and more important.
I'll be interested to learn which it is.

It looks to me to have a GMC or Chevrolet motorhome chassis on it. GMC had that unmistakable axle arrangement of 10 wheel bolts in the rear and 5 wheel bolts in the front. Also, they had the rear axle hub that is a cover only with the drive inner shaft inside-instead of the drive inner shaft being bolted to the outside of the hub like everyone else uses. Here's a Flxette. I don't know if they built any before they went to the fishbowl-style windows (Flxible fishbowls came out after the GMC anti-trust lawsuit). Still a possibliity, but I'm leaning more toward it being someone else's version (Prevost?) Most of my transit time is full-size buses.
The rear end in the original picture had me stumped, the slanting side windows point it toward a post 1961 design. The full size slider next to the driver really looks strange, as does the sedan-type door. Emergency door on left rear also points to early 60's, unless state/provincial regs called for it. I seem to remember something about early 4106's having an emergency door because of some New Jersey regulation. Could even be someone's knock-off, with Flxible or Prevost parts. It'd be interesting to see if there's a builder's plate inside.

WOw, that's close...and different. For sure next time I'm in the yard I'll find the the builders plate. BTW if you didn't know it that pic is of a montreal urbain transit bus but a special use one I have seen similar around here over the years. I even know the building in the background, it's right near the bus repair yard for the downtown fleet.
Flxettes had a windshield arrangement very similar to the big buses.

have no idea if it clears things up, still think it's funny that Prevost made such an ugly duckling.....then again maybe not so funny, even now the big Ps are not the best lookers.
Hey Zub, If it weren't for the fact that I agree with you regarding the new P's, I might be upset. Unfortunately, I don't care much for anything with a smooth side, but that's just me hehe.
