Title: quick electrical question
Post by: Airbag on February 22, 2009, 01:13:41 PM
I am about to bench test my heater a Hydro flame DC82 and someone here told me to connect the two wires instead of removing the Thermostat from the bus. I think that would mean placing a jumper between the + volt red wire and the thermostat white wire? Below are the three wires going in to the heater. I do not want to fry my hundred dollar new circuit board.

Hi Rick,

Yes, Jump your red 12v+ to the White/Blue Thormostat wire to call for heat in the unit.

Good Luck
Nick-

Nick-

Roger that
It works beautiful blows quiet with lots of air and heat. Tried it with the gas disconnected first and the new ignition board cycled three times as advertised and shut the fan down. Gas connected and fan started with delay and burner lit first cycle and ran for 30 min then pulled jumper off calling for no heat and the fan ran till the box was cooled off and quit. Did this several times and it's good to go. Thanks everyone for the advice and help. Now to find a new piece of 1'5/8" exhaust pipe and begin installation in the bus. I have made the panel above the vent duct removable from outside the bus and purchased a length of propane hose 5' long and will add wire to the power/ thermostat wires so it can slide out the front for maintenance if needed.

You might consider flexible stainless steel bellows-style gas line instead of "propane hose" for your LP hookup.  That's what I use.
If you look at home depot for them, you may find some rated for RV's and some not, but in any case they
will probably be safer in the long run than hose.  You don't want a propane hose to get dinged and leak...

I will look at that option, Thanks
