Title: Thanks to Bakersfield
Post by: Lin on February 08, 2009, 05:31:59 PM
While traveling up to central coast CA. yesterday, I got the idea to stop and meet Don and Songman as I passed Bakersfield.  They spent several hours educating me on Detroit Diesels and the meaning of life.  For all their effort, I have to admit that I still have not mastered either one.  Oh well, I'll just have to keep in touch with them and hope to learn more next time.

Lin -

You're in my neck of the woods, give me a holler if you're headed to Yosemite.  Number's in my profile.

You got to know two really super guys.  We have met both of them and think they are top notch.

RJ,

This trip is to Santa Cruz.  We are also going to make a quick run to Shasta for one day to take care of something.  Then we'll be heading back to our southern high desert.  Visiting Yosemite sounds nice.  I'll put it on the list.  Thanks
Title: Bakersfield Is My Old Home Town Years Ago

We had permission (sometimes not) to dig thru the bone piles at both Delany and Alfs and Valley Detroit Diesel for useable junk parts.  Were putting 353 and 453 Detroits into Ford pickups.  This was over 35 years ago.  Very good people.  Bakersfield is my old home town.  Retired fire department.  HB of CJ
