Title: Pictures (again)
Post by: Tenor on February 04, 2009, 05:13:06 PM
I know that you can only post 128k.  Can someone translate that into pixles x Pixles please?

Thanks!
Glenn

Now I'm really confused.  My picturs are 102KB and they won't fit?  What am I missing?  PLEEEEEEASE?

Tenor,

I can feel your pain ;D ;D ;D. I use Google Picasa 3. It is relatively simple to resize pics, and to use in general. I would just try posting your pics as an attachment. Do you get a message telling you that the pic is too big? My guess would be that it is something else.

God bless,

John

I use Photobucket, this is sized to 800 x 600.

This is the best way to post pictures that I have found and used. You don't have to resize them and add them using the additional options link below. Quick and Easy!

Paul,

Looks like you actually inserted that into the post. I can't do that since my pics aren't online. That is why I post mine as an attachment since it is on my computer...

God bless,

John

BTW I really like that pic of your bus. Looks great!!! Sure some way to get pics of your favorite machine up :P ;D ;D ;D.

John316,

It's really easy to do. Once it's loaded up on Photobucket it's a snap to post on any forum. You just have to sign up for the use of their service. I used to use Webshots, but I have found this is much easier.

By the way, when the opportunity arises, go for it....Hee Hee.

Paul -

OK, walk us neophytes thru posting a pic to MAK/BNO by using Photobucket. . . enquiring minds want to know!

How do you insert it into the text, for example.

;)
Title: Re: Pictures (again)
Post by: Dreamscape on February 04, 2009, 07:35:25 PM
First you have to open a Photobucket account.

Download pictures from your computer into an album.

Once the picture is on Photobucket hold your mouse over the picture and you will see a box below it. It has links for HTML, email, direct and IMG. I use the IMG, copy the code and paste it on the post anywhere.

I don't know if it will work on BNO, as I@n's site is much different than the MAK. The way you have to do the code is time consuming and frankly a pain.

Ace, Your pictures were already sized too small for them to be larger when clicking on it. That's why I'm a big Photobucket Fan.

Example,

This is a photo of John and Tami's MCI.

(https://busconversionmagazine.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi363.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Foo78%2FDreamscape_Eagle%2FJohnRigs.jpg&hash=5c529ef069cf82d01baa7baa103dc802afb10315)

You can insert the code anywhere you want, and then add another picture with the description.

Here is a picture of "Catskinner".

You get the idea.      ;D

Ace ,this allows you the opportunity to free up some space on the computer.Once you upload the pictures to photo bucket ,you can now place all your photos stored in your pc on to a cd to free up a bunch of space .good luck

To add to Van's suggestion. I carry a portable 250gb hard drive and store all of my pictures there, pics take up a lot of memory. After loading onto Photobucket they get dumped there.

Ace,

Thanks for the compliment! A lot has been done with more to do, lovin' every minute of it!

Glenn,

Glad you enjoy it as much as I do.

Following the advice of a fellow busnut that did a seminar on digital photography at Bussin' 09, I purchased a 500 Gig harddrive at WalMart for about $100, box says it should hold 142,500 JPGs. They also had another hard drive that has a capacity of 1 TetraByte, this would hold over 1/4 million photos .
Thanks Paul for the Photobucket tip and instructions.  We presently used Webshots, I will have to try your instructions on Webshots and see if it works there.  If not, I reckon Photobucket will have a new client.  Jack

One point to add about long term photo storage.  ALWAYS have more than one copy of photos that are important to you.  Hard drives can fail entirely or can develop issues that corrupt a file to the point the image file won't open or has major image damage.  CD's and DVD's can even fail (although rare).  And online services can have technical difficulties resulting in lost photos or have been known to suddenly go out of business.

So whatever methods you use, keep your irreplaceable photos stored in more than one storage medium.

I couldn't figger out how to do this on Webshot, so I signed up at Photobucket. Since it so COLD outside (high today is 49), I spent most of the day sitting at this here computer downloading photos to my new Photobucket Site.  You can see the albums at   http://s682.photobucket.com/albums/vv186/OBS-JC/. There is is main album and 7 sub-albums. I tried to arrange the photos in some kind of order. The sub albums are Electric, Exterior, Interior, Coach Construction, Misc, HEAT/AC, and Engine Compartment.  I will probably add a few more sub albums and more photos later.  Jack

Go to the thumbnail picture that you want to post.
Click on it.
It will open into a larger picture.
When you click to enlarge on the photo that you want to display look on the right and it shows some different options for posting.
Look at the last one that says,"IMG Code" and copy and paste that to your post on this bulletin board, without using the image icon to insert the image, since it already has the image commands added.

move your cursor to the end of the last bracket to continue your post. You want nothing other than the URL that you copied from the photograph inside the brackets.
Finish what you are typing and click on Preview to see if it worked.
If it did, click on Post.
If not, Beat on the computer in frustration, my favorite tool to do this is a 28 oz framing hammer.

I see.  I didn't realize it was all from photobucket and was trying to do it from desktop.  This is pretty much the way it looked when I got it.  The only things different that you would see in this picture is that the mirrors have been upgraded and the roof air horns removed.

Firefox 3.0.6

Hmmmm, I just tried it again and it wouldn't do it right because it added some extra letters and stuff at the end of the URL.

So try this:
When you click to enlarge on the photo that you want to display look on the right and it shows some different options for posting.
Look at the last one that says,"IMG Code" and copy and paste that to your post on this bulletin board, without using the image icon to insert the image, since it already has the image commands added.

Yup, that worked.

I'll change it in the instructions I posted below.

Just testing the photobucket  paste thing.
This is me the evening of Day 2 sorting out my bus for the trip
home.

I was living aboard with my son and that night around midnight I gave up when I realized I was supposed to be on vacation and this was really feeling like work.  I told myself in the morning I would ask Zubin (my son) if he wanted to keep working on it or should we just go camping up north. In the morning I gave the little guy the chance to make the decision for us, walk away and never come back or tough it out and he decided we should keep on working on it.  Until then Z had been a bit whiny and only half helpful (for a 6 yr old) but once being there was his doing he was on board 100%, my own little gopher, right in the thick of it, oiling the drill bits as I fabbed up a quick trailer hitch and generally being up to speed on what needed to get done.  Changed my relationship with him forever, we both grew up a bit that day (him more than me).
Now let's see if this works.
