Title: Source for parts
Post by: Blacksheep on January 30, 2009, 04:32:51 PM
Not sure if this has already been posted since I had a leave of absence for a while but another bus nut whom I met at the garage where my bus is being worked on was telling me about a source for aftermarket brand name parts that is cheaper than what most mfgr.s sell them for. The name of the source is Mohawk Manufacturing located in: Niles, Illinois

Their web site address is:

www.mohawkmfg.com

When I called them today to do some price checking, they were VERY friendly and VERY helpful. Only thing is, they do NOT supply any exhaust parts or Brake drums. Everything else they have as long as YOU supply a mfgr part number for them to cross reference! Oh and some parts they cannot get even if you have a part number. It seems that some mfgr's  have prioritized their numbers so they cannot be crossed! I had 3 numbers on the new air bag from Goodyear and they couldn't cross it! He explained that the mfgr's are starting to do this more to keep companies like them out of a sale!

I find the Prevost parts book will give you both the manufacturer's name and parts number along with the Prevost number I believe all manufacturers should do this people are going to buy aftermarket anyway when possible because of the outrageous prices from the dealers

I've used Mohawk several times and they are great.  Don't forget Luke at US Coach either!

Ace...add me to the "Fans of Mohawk" club.
They have the best prices on almost everything I have inquired on.
In fact the air bags for our Scenicruisers (Convoluted) were very cheap...and they are Goodyears!
Jack
PS...there are only 10 of them on a Scenicruiser...I am taking up a collection!
(Of course Kyle needs about 70 or so of them!)

David,

Is the Fleetpride price really 40% below Mohawk?  If so, what does it take to have an account?  One thing that I have found with Mohawk is that you must know what you are ordering.  I think that US Coach may cost a bit more, but, if you are unsure, they can figure out what you need and you'll get the right part.
