I was setting here thinking, (looking at the 14'' of snow that fell over night) how many guys here on the board have 5C'S
or like myself have the 5B'S, and do they wish they had the extra 5' in the 40 footers.
Steve 5B.....
14 inchs of snow will give you some weird thoughts, I think its called cabin fever. Anywhy 5C here, and sometimes have mixed feelings. There are a lot of places I have been that the 40's wont go on the other hand I've gotten stuck a few times and was able to get the bus out, I would have had to called a big wrecker to get a 40 footer out. I belive most towing policys do not cover off the pavement??
The tall bays on a 40 look enticeing as I get older, the shorter bays on the 5C are getting tough. I really would not want to navigate a 40 footer and a toad anypace but an interstate, but thats just me. Jim
What, you are not going to include the 5s or 5As? :) I wish i had the extra bay that the 40 footers have but i am glad i am only 35ft. For us the 5A is the perfect length, if i ever had to replace this one i would get another 35 footer. ;D
Ed,
I just noticed you have three more post until you graduate (I think) from a JR member. Hurry up and make three more posts...
Steve5B, Sorry I don't want to hijack your thread ;D ;D ;D.
God bless,
John
Hi Ed!
I didn't even realize they had those. Sorry to leave them out!
Steve 5B.......
Not a problem John, Ed, post up! post up!
Steve 5B..
Nah......i don't want to post just to get to a higher number......i just post when i have something to say. :) So, this should make it 100 ;D
Do i get a prize? a tank of fuel? new batteries or tires? :)
Congrats Ed. Here is a whole truck load of free E-Diesel ;D :D :D ;D. You are now a fffffuuuuuulllllll member. I have heard that attaining the next level helps cabin fever :D :D :D.
God bless,
John
mmmm......i don't get cabin fever anymore. We are in Yuma for the winter....just had a bbque 2 days ago with some other bus nuts, but did have to wear jackets and sweaters because we have had a north wind for a couple of days :).
MC5a here. I like 35 foot. Actually, what I would like is 40-45 foot on the inside and 25-35 on the outside. Since I have not yet figured out how to do that (probably using a worm hole or hyperspace), the outside trumps the inside for me. Really, only my wife and I use it, so we do not have the issue of storing a few extra bodies, and we do not have a lot of toy/gadget requirements, the 35 is more than adequate for us. Besides, I feel that with my skill, I can do just as much damage as some of the bigger boys.
Sorry to crash a MCI thread with a GM, but with my third daughter on the way, my 35 ft 4106 just got too small. I need to find someone willing to trade a 45 with triple bunks for a 35 footer!!
Mark
Mark,
Congrats on the new daughter. How much cash are you loading into your bus with your trade? ;D :D ;D
Oh, one more thing. You should start a new thread with what you are looking for/at.
God bless,
John
Ok, I take my 5? everywhere, I love boondocking, I love parking on beaches. I have been stuck seriously once, tide was coming in, the belly of the bus was almost on the beach :o It took only 2 big Chevy deisel 1 tones to pull me out. I have been stuck a second time that required lots of digging. Anyway, my point is... I love these little guys
my friend purchased a Marathon 45' monster with slides and gold trim everywhere. I had the privilege of putting many miles on it as my buddy is not comfortable driving it. Now as gorgeous as it is - I need an full ground crew to navigate even the simplest parking maneuver - It has large bays but soooo poorly planned out that you cant even get a surf board under there.
A 35' unit with 3 bunks (6 yr old 7 yr old and 8 yr old) and a double master suite and clever plumbing (tank under master bed) a reasonable size genset/black water/propane bay. I have almost double the storage of the Marathon :)
Thanks for the Congrats, John! Nah, I'm not really being serious about trading up to a 45 footer. Well, not REALLY serious. I don't think the wife is going to allow me to part with any cash at the moment. My John Deere sales are way off and our customers are going out of business left and right. Don't get me going on work!!!
We have two bunks and a bed in the 4106. I can easily make three bunks in the same space as the two, but the top bunk won't have a window to look out of. I can put a "gate" up and make the top bunk into a crib of sorts for the new one. We'll make it work.
1Lapper,
I didn't figure that you would be swapping...You guys will do great in you current setup. I like your idea about making a crib of sorts on the top bunk. Besides it will be easier to access and take care of baby when her crib is that height.
You guys are going to have a great time with a little one on board. We miss not having babies around...
God bless,
John
Make the bottom of the crib bunk really water tight. You don't want complaints from the customers.
LOL!!! I'm sure my other two will be the first to inform me in the event of a leak!
Hey, wantabe here, and was wandering if a person might see some pictures or floor plans of these buses, especially the ones with the bunks. Trying to get some ideas, don't have anything bought yet, just started looking. Thanks Jim jfsim@juno.com
Jim,
This is taking poor Steve's thread a bit far ;D :o ;D (hijacking ;D :D ;D). You should just post this as a new topic. You will get publicity on a new topic too...
Otherwise welcome aboard. In your new thread let us know what bus you have/looking at. What are your goals and plans...
God bless,
John
Sorry, I'm new at all this.
J,
No problem. We would just like to know more about you...
God bless,
John
i have a 5c. Its nimble, not to big, not to small. works for us

I am in the process of planning my big western trip, and where I am going I am seeing quite a few restrictions that prohibit anything over 35'. I love the 35' size, and if I where to get something bigger, I would have one of each.
5A here,
And its real nice. Ours has an 8" roof raise so its real big looking inside. But I would like another bay and i'm trying to figure out how to add a couple of bunks. Viento1 whats your floor plan look like? Could you send pictures to my email address?
ALso would like to know how to fit 8V92 into the 8V71 hole. I just love power. Tom C says to turbo.
Fred (did i just hijack your thread?)
