Title: 900 Watt 24 volt Power Inverter
Post by: bcaddel on January 09, 2009, 06:32:28 AM
I am thinking about purchasing a 24volt inverter ($100) so I have easy access to 110 ac power while going down the road. I have a 24 volt MCI7 system and my thought is the alternator will easily keep the inverter going and the start batteries charged up, and I can run the TV, Computer or other small 110 Volt devices without firing up the genset or without discharging my house batteries with the 12 volt inverter.

I haven't seen this discussed so I am thinking there may be an obvious reason not do do it that I have overlooked.

You could get something like this,  I found one much cheaper on ebay

http://www.mccampingsupplies.com/index.php?cPath=549_613_622&main_page=product_info&products_id=8193 (http://www.mccampingsupplies.com/index.php?cPath=549_613_622&main_page=product_info&products_id=8193)

or if you have one on your bus already some mci's have 30 amp ones

It will help keep the the two series batteries charged equally and help you with those problems, and you can then tap in at the 12v and connect the house system in.

just a thought and I'm sure better experts will expound upon this ;)

bcaddel...your choice is the most efficient of the two...it more direct and less power requirement for the given output. Not only that, it cost less to achieve the 110 a/c volts
