My MC 9 some time ago has already been buffed out, but what do I use to keep it looking good. Some times it looks a bit hazy?
Thanks
John
I would think a nice clear coat over it... but I don't know that for sure.
Hi John and Happy New Year,
You don't want to use wax-it will yellow. I'm slowly wetsanding mine and polishing it with Dicor metal polish for stainless using homemade buffer pads cut out of some leftover wool carpeting. The carpeting actually works better than the wool pads that I purchased ;D. Someone on here stated that they use brake fluid for both cleaning and leaving it shine. Another recommended buffing it with flour. I can't attest to either of those methods, but Mother's Metal polish will keep it shiny for a long while if you want to do it by hand. Otherwise, there are some good metal polishes that can be applied with an electric buffer.
Good luck. I've only got 4 more bay doors left to sand and polish. It's very time consuming but it can be done in the rain (wetsanding) ;D ;D

Hi John,
I didn't believe the brake fluid method until I used it on our 40 year old aluminum siding. Wow what a difference it made. You might also try some products like we used at TBR on your wheels, Wizard. It should last and give a good shine for a long time.
Whatever you choose, it's all work! ;)
Good Luck and Happy New Year!

Simple. One elbow and some grease!!! ;D ;D ;D
I buff mine out every six months or so. Take about 3 hours with pink compound.
Good luck!
I would look to one of those SS polishing kit makers. They have a product for every stage of the polishing process. I think you said yours was good but needed freshened up? That would be the last stage stuff. If you go into sand paper or whatever you must then go through all the subsequent stages to get to polish and a high gloss finish. Seems you have nothing to loose with that brake fluid suggestion and that would be the cheapest by far. Go with DOT 4 for sure.

When we bought our 5A 5 years ago i asked the PO what i had to do to keep the stainless looking good. He said "wash it". I said is that all? and he laughed and said i could wax it if i wanted to. All i do is use Turtle Wax Wash & Wax liquid in a 5 gallon bucket. No buffing, no hand waxing, and even when the bus is dirty i have had people comment on how the stainless shines so well. They are really surprised when i wipe some of the dirt film off and show them what it looks like when it is clean. ;D
