I was wondering if there is a way ( special link, program, etc) that will let you search CL as a whole, meaning all of the states, and all cities for one item? So, id I want to say search for a MCI-9 bus, I can go to one search page, put the search criteria in, and then have a search result appear to me with all of the MCI-9's available on CL... am I dreaming, or is this a possibility??
Hi, try: Crazedlist.org
Have fun!

You can use Google to do this. Simply enter your search term, followed by site:craigslist.org.
As an example, here is a link to a search for "bicycle" on all of Craigslist:
http://www.google.com/search?q=bicycle+site%3Acraigslist.org (http://www.google.com/search?q=bicycle+site%3Acraigslist.org)
Note that this works for any web site(s) that Google indexes. If this board did not already have a great advanced search feature, you could use it here, too:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=bicycle+site%3Abusconversions.com&btnG=Search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=bicycle+site%3Abusconversions.com&btnG=Search)

This is the best way I know. Searches all of Craigslist but still keeps it broken down by area. Also shows you eBay items that match your search in a separate area.
Before I found this, I did it with Google as Sean suggested.
Awesome Gents... THANK YOU!!! That will be a HUGE help.... :)
I also use Craigshelper and love it, they have made some very nice improvements to it.
I once came into the "possesion" of a Craigs list add for an item I really wanted....problem is I couldn't tell "which: Craigs list it came from and I struck out finding it. Really bummed as it would have saved me 300 bucks.
I tried Songman's link and after doing a search it came back with a list OF EVERY CRAIGS LIST in the country with the comment "not found here". You cannot read all thoses lists and I don't care if you are a speed reader. Is there no way to search where the result would be "found here"? Craigs list is a real resource for me, or could be, and I am frustrated with this. I tried and have been tried.

It is true that it takes some time to go through all the listings in Craigshelper. But if you just want to know if something is available on Craigslist it is the best thing I have found. I always search 'ANY' distance because I am the guy who is willing to go all over the country to get something that I want. If that is not you, just change the mileage down to how far you are willing to travel.
While Craigshelper may not work exactly as we wish it would, if you want to find something on Craigslist in general then it is the best way to do it.
Whatever I want to find in Craigslist I just use google and type in craigslist name of what you're looking for then click on go. Such as this, craigslist eagle, click on go. Every Eagle listed pops up. You can also narrow it down to area, craigslist eagle bus texas, and get the texas results.

It works for me.

I agree with songman,
Try
www.craigshelper.com
not only can you search multiple sites, you can put in a set limit on how far away you are willing to search or go to buy something. I use it almost every day, once you set the distance, or cities, you should not have to re-set it.
