Title: Speedometer question
Post by: Charles in SC on December 05, 2008, 05:32:26 PM
Yesterday my speedo cable broke and it got me to thinking again about installing an electric one. At present I have an old Tachograph.
Are the electric one hard to install and get wired. I would have to cut a new hole in the dash but I can do that without much problem.
Any advice is appreciated.

Just to mention an option, there are GPS speedometers available too.

My tachograph speedo is electric, with the pulse generator on the front wheel.

That's an option.

Or, why not replace your speedo cable?

what coach you running this in?

happy coaching!

My speedo is electric running off the transmission through a small pulse generator (same type generator that is used for my tachometer and cruise control).  You then only have to run two wires up to the front and then program the speedo-meaning just flip a series of switches on the back of the gauge according to your tire size, and rear axle ratio-simple.  Good Luck, TomC
