I was wondering what the 2 1/4 turn valves operate that are located on the back of the passengers side wheel well. They don't look they have been used for quite some time. I didn't even know they were there until I removed the factory waste tank and A/C compressor the other night.
Thanks in advance.
On my eight they are for the tag axel air bags
They unload the air if you want to do that

one for the right side tag, the other for the other.
Someone get a picture of the decal so he can confirm they are in the correct position and which is which.

Thanks guys, If they were in the wrong position wouldn't my low tag air light be on? Think I better spry them down with some lube of some sorty before I try moving them.

It should, does the low tag light come on when you turn on the master switch after the bus has been sitting for weeks (or months).
I once drove a friend's MC-8, that he had recently purchased in Ohio and drove to Florida. He had asked me to drive it to see what I thought of how it handled, it had the new style integral steering installed on it. The handling was terrible. He left my place and drove home (about 100 miles). When he got home, as he was walking beside the bus to go into his house, he placed his hand on the tires as he walked past them. He noticed that the tag tire was colder than the drive and front. He called me and asked why this would be. I told him to check the postion of the 2 valves inside the right side engine compartment door. Sure enough, he had driven the bus all the way from Ohio with no air in the tags. He immediately turned the valves and took the bus for a short drive. He was amazed at the difference in handling. The OEM dash had been removed and the new dash did not have a low tag warning light. No Decal but
Thanks again guys! Yes Jack , after the bus has been sitting for quite some time the light does come on. This means it's operating properly I take it.

Sounds like it. Next time you start your bus after it has sat for awhile, note if LOW TAG light comes on when you turn on the master switch. If it does, it should go off when the tag axles air up. This will not occur until the accesory tank fills, this is the last tank to fill and you dash air pressure gauge operates off this tank (along with air wipers and suspenson sytem. Jack
Another of those maintenance tests that isn't written anywhere.
One at a time, dump each tag, and do the 40 foot wander to confirm that both sides will activate the warning.
Same for each of the other warnings we need to depend on.
Both sides of a dual air brake system, both heads for the overheat in a V8...
We need a new book...

I quite sure my tags are working by the sounds of it. Good advice BW as I never thought of an easy test to check for overheating. I take I just have to locate the wire on each head and pull one at a time to check. I probably won't be firing it up until March or April now. It's dam cold and it just seems hard on the old girl.
