Title: New Heater
Post by: cody on December 01, 2008, 11:13:43 AM
I'm really pleased with the new heater I got from Northern Tool, Its been running on low in the bus now for the last couple of days and it's keeping the bus around 70 degrees without a whimper and not a peep from any of the detectors either.  I've got the ceiling vent cracked about 1/2 inch and I've got a fan running to keep the air from layering, it's working great so far.  The temps here have been in the high 20's during the day and dropping into the high teens and lower 20's at night.  No problems with condensation either, getting some but not enough to be concerned about, just pleased with it all so far.  The heater has 2 settings and is rated at 10,000 BTU on high, I've only had it on low so far.

what heater?  comeon cody, i need pics, specs, and fran says she needs libby's blessings also.  ;D.

is this propane?  mounted somewhere or freestanding.  our electric meter is spinning like a top right after you pull the string.

you are just a few degrees colder than we are outside and let's keep it that way.  matter of fact, i'd be happy if we were a lot warmer than you are.

http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200332737_200332737             Tom, this is the heater I got and it works great.  Right now it's temporarily mounted up front by the cat catcher, it's hooked to a 20 pound tank from jamies grill and it's working great.  This heater doesn't use any electricity and it's ventless, so far it hasn't bothered the detectors any but I've got a vent cracked and a fan blowing so the air doesn't layer. I figure if it continues to work as well as it is now after a few days I'll mount it permanently by the cat catcher,

now that i see it, its what we have mounted in the wall!  ours looks to be same size.  we didn't have a fan on and with our layout (side hallway to get to the back), the heat isn't gettin to the back well.  i'd also be worried about the basement if i was just using heaters in the leaving area.  are your bays stayin warm enough with the gas heater upstairs?

For now, we're in the house at our daughters, I don't have the basements heated but I'm working on it, this is a few first steps to get away from our dependance on our electric cube heaters, next step will be to find a simular type of heater with the same efficiancy for the basement, we've drained everything for now in the bays. Ideal would be florida for the winter but just can't do it this winter, got to do my promised cardiac rehab so that I can continue to be a pain in the neck for other busnuts lol.

Next time leave the dogs out! Why would you have to move? Too residential?

BK, I figured the move was coming, hard to stand in the way of a new highway, but look on the bright side, malcolm will have to move too and maybe you guys can all find another place together, tho it would be hard to find a place as nice as where your at now.  Just try to find a place with a bit of a spot where maybe we can stop and visit now and then, I've been an orphan before and don't want to be an orphan again, besides someone will have to replace your moms screen room.  I sit here looking out at the snow and I sure wish I felt good enough to be in a warmer spot, maybe in a few months like they said, we'll see, meanwhile I'll tinker with the bus a little and see what else I can break.

BK,

The "state" almost never comes close to the value of the land they appropriate for public purposes.  Sad, but true.  I have seen people substantially improve their replacement cost reimbursement price with a lawyer.  Not to stop the process but to get a more equitable price.  You will only come out OK or better if you are Enron(connected) or Microsoft(filthy rich and not in any need).

There was a farmer along the Pa. Turnpike that fought the State tooth and nail over the right-away.  His house was on the "line' that the state wanted.  Eventually the state cut his house in HALF right at the wire fence line that borders the highway.  In half!  It stood there for many years for all to see that drove past.  He wanted them to pay for the entire House that they were going to ruin but they only paid "half" the value as they only wanted that much.  When you get to the border of Pa heading in, turn on you CB and listen to the truckers.  GD Pa this and GD Pa that without stop if there is the traffic jamb at the "hole in the Wall" of W. Va  that was a daily occurrence for many years and probably is still a fact of life after the 20 year ago jamb that stopped me and thousands of other cars.  A daily deal.  I'm from Pa.

I hope "it could be worse" is a valid quote for you, really.  Hope you are all OK and heading into a better...

John
